Since the E1DA 9038S exists this and pretty much every other dongle type dac/amp products are dead in the water. At least this one has an interesting functionality to it with the combo 4.4/2.5mm which may give a few people pause, but not really...
mensrea@OpiateSkittles@mensrea The downside to the E1DA 9038S is the lack of grounded output, meaning if you use a 2.5mm to dual xlr (e.g. another amp or studio monitors), there could be hum.
VicturtleIt’s not me saying anything - it’s pretty much industry consensus. The TC44B is a DAC/amp dongle. In that space, there’s the 9038S and there’s everyone else. The 9038S is “better” because on the DAC side it’s one of the cleanest measuring DACs around, not just among dongles, but among any DAC out there. It outperforms the TC44B in every way across all measurable metrics. As for the amp section, the 9038S has 3x the power. None of this is opinion, it’s measurable fact. Go research this yourself if you don’t believe me. And the dual mono DAC thing - you can put fancy sports wheels on a Camry, but it’s still a Camry. The 9038S is a Porsche and it doesn’t need fancy wheels to blow away a Camry on the road. Just sayin’.
