The keycaps and switches are nice but I just don't see how it costs $500. You would be much better off building this yourself. I am not sure what they mean by hand placed dampening material from the advertising but I didn't see anything when taking apart the back. It did not come with premium packaging however there was a $25 promo card inside to make up for it. Overall the keyboard is not bad but its just not worth the hefty price.
Loved the build, everything came in solid and not damaged. They did say covid is still preventing big unboxing experiences and offered a discount code for the troubles. Overall very happy with the build and quality, added custom keycaps to fit theme of desk!
I don't think this is worth $500. The package it comes in is terrible.
First of all the GMK keycaps on this look realy nice. The aluminium chasiss feels good as well. But that's about it. The space bar has audible rattling noise. The packaging can't be defined as simple but utterly terrible. It comes in a white box that's significantly larger than the keyboard. Then the outer shipping box is even larger than this white box. And there is zero foam to fill those gaps. I'm surprised such packaging exists on a $500 product. It's lucky that it didn't get smashed during transit. I'm returning this keyboard. And I wouldn't recommend this to anyone.
MavericksyaoSeems like you had a shocking delivery. This is how my Skiiboard was packaged, however the keyboard itself was safe inside a (colour coordinated) soft carry case, and the white box it was in was surrounded with air pocket packaging. It made its way from the U.S. to the U.K. safe and sound and in perfect condition. I've not noticed any rattle, and the switches are silky smooth. The Skiiboard doesn't feature the additional foam I think the Shogun comes with though, so it does sound a bit hollow.
Was skeptical of this keyboard's quality at first because it was a prebuilt. The keycaps feel great and the tactile feeling is amazing. Would highly recommend if you are thinking about getting this product
I'm relatively new to the keyboard so part of what you get is to distance yourself from some of the craziness of selecting keys / caps and the back and forth of making sure its right...making sure you lubed the keys correctly...making sure you soldered the board etc. Out of the box you can immediately use this and the feel is honestly incredible. I had no idea what I was missing and it's seriously gorgeous. I want to take it everywhere!
firstchairaltosaxThank you for the review. What you described is actually exactly the reason why we launched the Icon Collection keyboards. To make it easy for everyone to enjoy enthusiast-level mechanical keyboards, without the hassle. Shogun and other Paragon-series keyboards are hand-assembled and lubed at our facility in the U.S.
I am extremely glad to hear that you enjoy the keyboard. If you ever have any questions, please do not hesitate to contact us. Thank you again.
I've been most impressed with the Shogun. It was an impulse buy, admittedly. I don't regret it in the slightest now. I absolutely love the way the keys sound when typing.
I'd buy others in the future. If you don't want to build your own; I'd say they're worth the money for the work they put into it.
