First Look: I got 3 orders of each (all mediums) knowing I could use both, and figured it would be a great gift for my father and his girlfriend to use while clearing snow, but being unsure which style they'd each prefer. I can also always use a spare of each myself O:-) on testing the fit, they fit me great. I'm not sure how medium will fit my father's girlfriend because she's really small. both versions ARE helmet compatible (fit under a helmet) and the way they are cut, they DON'T OBSTRUCT PERIPHERAL VISION. Both very important features for winter cyclocommuting. to help with this, the Hoodlum has a lightweight shock cord draw string at the temple which you run behind your head on the outside and tighten. Many high-end cwaterproof shells for climbing come with this feature because it helps the hood fit tight to your face and fit better under a helmet, allowing the wearer unobstructed peripheral vision. Usually though, the shockcord drawstring runs through a channel hidden within the hood, so it won't get caught on things. The hoodlum is, as we surmised, a hood version of the Hooligan. But it's cut long to cover your chin and full neck, down below your coat collar, but with a snap front. as a cyclist and hammock camper, I'm guessing I'll prefer the Hoodlum for sub-zero hammocking and cycling, and the Hooligan for cold weather cycling, but I'll be testing that in the coming weeks before I do a more informed review.
