I bought the 36MM version with the navy dial.
Many years ago, I had a Seiko 5 with a navy dial and a stainless bracelet. I bought it on the cheap, on a trip to Asia, and wore it for years. It was versatile, and got many compliments. One day, it died, after falling from a height of 30" onto a ceramic floor. It was replaced by another Seiko 5, with a silver dial, which, after some years, suffered the same fate (different ceramic floor). Damn it.
When MD first offered this watch, I joined the drop, thinking it would be a good, and somewhat more robust replacement for my Seiko. But, after some back and forth with other members, I cancelled the order. You can probably still find that conversation in "discussions". It is rare that I regret not buying something, but I did, so when the drop was activated again, I joined. The watch arrived yesterday, and I'm very happy with the way it looks and wears.
I bought this watch because it's the only automatic watch I could find at this price point that had the following features:
It is powered by a workhorse movement (a good ETA clone)
The movement is shock protected. Remember what happened to my Seikos?
It has a sapphire crystal. In case you haven't guessed, I'm rough on my watches, and, if it were not for the sapphire crystal, it would quickly show
It is sufficiently water resistant to go for a swim
IMO, this watch wears "big" for a 36MM watch. I'm not sure why. But it looks substantial--more so than, say, an Airking. Here it on my wrist, which isn't particularly thin:

The bracelet on the watch is attractive; the contrast between the brushed links and the polished ones is subtle. The dial is is easy to read. The lume is faint but legible. The navy--which is hard to make out in photos online--is dark and somewhat "flat". It doesn't have a ton of opalescence or radiance, but it has some. It looks nice to me. Nice and simple.
Indeed, everything about this watch is simple, and that's what I like about it. I've got nothing else to say. I'll report back if anything changes. In the meantime, I'm satisfied AF.
Edit: here's a picture with it on a Horween leather strap from Etsy:
officialandproperemailI have around 8 automatic watches, all under $500. My favorite thing with this watch is at midnight. The date changes right at 12:00 with a click that you can hear. Plus it's a nice fit on my wrist. It is easy to find straps with the 20mm lugs. Swiss made movement and a saphire crystal. What's not to like?
Well I just couldn't believe how much presence this Glycine Dress Watch has. It is just absolutely gorgeous, no other words for it! When I opened the box my jaw must have nearly hit the table as it is for sure a real beauty. I opted for the black dial with green lumen and a stainless steel bracelet and for me I couldn't't have picked better.
I'm a big fan of Oris watches as they really do offer great quality and design at a very affordable price and this is the first Glycine watch I've bought but for sure if this one is anything to go by it won't be my last.
A cracking drop and thumbs up to the procurement team for bringing this beauty and it's other variants to the forum :))
DO NOT BUY FROM MASSPLOP !!!!
Joined the drop 16th October, I was notified watch was sent out on the 26th October. 2 weeks later checked tracking parcel had not left massplop this was confirmed by DHL. After 2 weeks of back and forth with the worst customer support script read BS and 5 request's for them to make an inquiry as to what was going on, I was then told the watch was lost ..... A new one would be sent ASAP yeah right .... A week later nothing andd no CS reply's .... Said i would be reversing credit card charges the next day. An hour later a email was sent saying a new watch has been sent and the original had been returned to massplop HQ as it was not deliverable.... The day after that I received an email from a community manager saying it was likely the new package would suffer the same fate and offered a refund even though a watch had already been sent .... WTF who dose that ?? I thought this was very strange !! I asked him why would you offer a refund if a new watch had been sent ? No reply.... In the end I had my bank reverse the charges cause I had no faith in massplop. 3 weeks later package arrives from massplop...............
OH LOOK NO F'ING watch inside!!!!! and the package was not tampered with !! All makes sense now !! Offer a refund and wait for fake package with no watch to arrive then say watch was delivered and revoke refund offer !!
SCAMMING 101 ....
Slipped off my wrist as I was fastening it. Before it shattered, I wore it almost daily. From what I understand, the newer Combat &s are now using Acrylic. Not sure if I'll buy one. Normally scratches are a much bigger concern than breakage for me, but when the crystal is this thin...
It is an overpriced, inpractical toy. This watch uses an ETA-clone movement with a conventional rotor which, unlike some much cheaper yet ingenious Japanese rotors, is not very responsive to your wrist movement. As a result: if you have a stagnant desk job this watch can die on you any time because the rotor is unable to wind the main spring enough to keep it going. And any such watch which cannot be relied to accurately tell time is an absolute dealbreaker for me. It is just a useless toy. Moreover: if you try to handwind this ETA-clone mechanism to ensure the watch will keep going the next day you're admonished via differnet forums against it because the watch is not designed to be hand-wound too often and it can result in damage. So you are betweeen the rock and the hard place. Lesson learned: do not buy ETA-based wristwatch, only Japanese-based: it is a waste of money for practically-minded people.
WheelwrightPLI purchased the 36mm blue face GL0106 the last time it appeared on Massdrop, about four months ago? Absolutely love the watch. I've tracked it's accuracy constantly since then. Over that time, on average, it has been accurate to within 4 to 5 seconds a day. I never wind it manually, the watch has no trouble winding itself, and I have a very stagnant desk job as you say. I don't typically wear it on weekends and it seems to wind down in a time consistent with the advertised reserve (38 hour). This is my first automatic and I will judge all others based on my experience with this excellent and beautiful watch.
Have been wearing the GL0106 (36mm, blue face, bracelet) for about a month now and am fairly impressed. Classic and classy. Seems to keep time to about +30sec/week - impressive.
Having gone from a 45mm case with my previous watch (and another 12mm for the crown) to this watch, it initially felt a little small, but I've grown to really love it. Easy to read dial, fairly thin case thickness (down from nearly 15mm on previous watch), and crown guards make this a far more practical watch for someone who works a lot with their hands. My previous larger watch was fine as a suit wearing office worker, but found it knocking and catching far too much in my new line of work.
The only negative is the luminosity. Mine dies in a matter of moments, perhaps a few mins tops. This is somewhat unfortunate as luminosity was part of the purchase decision making process. As my previous watch has no luminosity I was really after something I'd be able to read in the dark.. S'pose I'll just need to keep an eye out for another watch for evening wear.
EDIT: Stars dropped from 5 to 1: Junk. Died in less than 12 months. I've owned a number to watches of various quality (quartz and auto) over the years - this was the most expensive and the ONLY watch to fail.
Fantastic watch. Looks classy, wears comfortably, even though I got the 43 which is a bit large. I love this watch and i've had no issues. Thanks massdrop
I got my GL0122 two weeks early (way up here in Canada) and waited a week longer to get the Martu leather strap I ordered to start actually wearing it. I love the vintage look with the leather and I am glad I got the 43mm as it looks 'just right' on my 7.5" arm. It currently runs a steady + 6 seconds and I am okay with. My old daily driver has an anti-reflective coating, and this does not, but I am getting used to the quite shiny sapphire crystal.
