Product Description
At once vintage and avante garde, the Heritor Ganzi is a true showstopper. The first thing you’ll notice about it is the unique case shape and lugs, which look as if the watch is suspended in mid-air Read More

Is it just me, or does it seem someone is slowly trying to poison the Watch Department, one ugly watch at a time? Kind of like ingesting small quantities of arsenic that build up bit by bit, until that last fatal dose when the one remaining, long-suffering, MD watch fan finally reaches his limit and says: "fuck this shit--I'm out'a here."

RayFThanks Ray. I am still here but the level of dissapointment towards Drop is high. I mean really high. On the other hand what can I do about it? I am enjoying the comments now... and some posts from the people that are still here.

The watch is hideous--let's just clear that up at the start, but that doesn't mean it won't work. You can read more about the movement itself (a rather famous/infamous movement that dates to one of China's Five-Year plans) by Googling "Shanghai 2L-27", or you can buy the movement here for about $39: https://timeconnectioninc.com/china-mechanical/4409-china-2l27-automatic-movement.html If you know nothing about watches, nothing about movements, and nothing about what makes one watch more valuable than the next--this watch might appeal to you. On the other hand, you might know all of those things and still find this watch interesting (because it's rather hideous and you don't have anything even remotely similar to it in your collection). Technically speaking, either scenario is sufficient justification to buy one. If you're tempted, but the rational, thinking portion of your brain is laughing at you for even considering such a beast, think of it this way: at some point in your life you may have gone out with a girl for all the wrong reasons, a girl that you probably wouldn't have brought home to meet you mother. This watch is kind of like that date--your mother (and all the knowledgable watch-people you know) will look at it and shake their heads. But only you know how that evening with your date turned out ;- )

I'm pretty happy with my Heritor Edgard Pro Diver (Zodiac homage), but that's an all together different kettle of fish!

First and foremost, mine is powered by a Seiko NH35 movement, has a screw-down crown, and is rated to 200m water resistance. In combination with the unidirectional bezel and decent lume, that places mine squarely in the "functional tool-watch" category, where as the beastie we're peddling here is just another fashion watch. I've nothing against fashion per se, but for the additional $45-$50 I paid for my Heritor over this one, I know who got the better deal ;- )

I was on watchgang for 1 watch. Got it and said “Nah, not for me”. At least they let me keep the watch for free. Not that I’ll ever wear it.

BeastMDYeah, never got how that could truly work in the consumer’s favor, but I suppose the pull of winning a free Rolex Is a strong motivator.

This may be an unpopular opinion, I don't spend a heap of time (heh) on watch forums so I might be missing something. But I'm starting to wonder what the point is of watches like this, that are clearly designed to show off the beauty and operation of a mechanical movement, then decide to fit it with an automatic movement with a rotor that takes up 2/3 of the visible real estate of the caseback. I have a couple of automatic watches with exhibition casebacks, and compared to handwound models, even relatively cheap ones, the rotor is just really boring to look at. Sure you can flick around to see other parts of the mechanism, but it mostly just obstructs the view of the more intricate moving parts. If I end up buying the Baltic I've been eyeing off I'd definitely go for an exhibition caseback, not because the movement is anything fancy but because you can actually see all the parts working together. If you're a watch person and prefer the mechanical operation of a traditional watch and find it interesting to look at, rather than a quartz - a cheaper, more utilitarian option that generally keeps better time - why would you buy one like this, where the only selling point is the visibility of the movement and then have most of if covered up anyway? Personally I find this watch to be unattractive regardless, it's busy and garish and looks cheap. But seeing all that space that's meant to give you some kind of insight into the inner workings of your watch and then slapping a massive rotor on it just seems like insult to injury. If it isn't aesthetically pleasing, technically interesting or even visible when that's meant to be the point, then I don't understand who the audience is supposed to be.

As the manufacturer of this watch I agree with everything you're saying. Although I do not own watch in my collection it has been a best seller for 7+ years. Who would of thought? : )

ED61 Not so surprising when you consider how many people think Velveeta is actually cheese, thought Kiss was a band, the Pontiac Aztec was a car, and are still surprised when someone sings well on America's Got Talent. I think P.T. Barnum was right!

Does anyone know where the movement is from? This watch is just so out there compared to my usual taste, that I might just go for it; probably the tarnished bronze look. I mean for around a hundred bucks you are getting something more of a piece of man jewellery, and it may even double as a pocket watch!! Checking my bank account,or I should say trying to think of a good reason so my wife doesn't get me tested for Covid19!!

Well I am definitely not a watch snob, or wouldn't like/need the discounts on Drop; although I do appreciate quality and definitely I am a value for money hunter. The options for this watch are very limited here in Australia, so sometimes you take a calculated leap of faith. Many thanks for your input.

JAoneI bought a Heritor as a gift for a friend of mine last year. He likes watches but was only familiar with the cheap, bargain department store checkout kind. While these may not blow you away, they are pretty nice watches for the money. Well worth $100, I think...

Yes I can vaguely recall my twenties! Booze and women. And yes I didn't give a rats ass about watches. Probably be the same when I am older; then it will be soft food and allopurinol! Shame it's really the only accessory a man has, that can add to his character.

I bought one. This watch is completely ugly and tasteless. This is contrary to everything that I understand and love in the watch. This is one of the best examples of how you can use great features and combine them to disfigure. That is why I ordered one. I am sure that when I look at my collection, this watch will make me smile.
