I was one of the few I guess who were willing to pay the higher price. I had one that was faulty and returned it thinking I will get the TH 900 when I go to Japan (my company is headquartered) ... which I never could as I left and joined a different organization. Then the wait for this one was too long, so got it as soon as read the email. I have a question for those who bought from this recent lot. How was the packaging? For me it certainly doesn't look factory packaged! The headphone box in fact was open! I have written to drop and am awaiting a response. I haven't fully opened the box / headphone.
Haven't heard back. I had EB before, had issue with the cup so sent it back. So this time I thought I will try Mahogany. But I will keep these .. anytime in future when the PH and MH are back, will grab those. I own the Denon 9200H too and my boss had given me his Fostex TH900 for few weeks. I still feel (despite some reviews that Drop version sounds better) that I want the TH900. I had a denon D5000 and sold it .. but I like the sound from all these extended family members. I haven't heard the PH or MH, so my comparison is only with TH900 and the Denon 9200H. I bought these because my daughter has started to like listening to headphones .. so I can share the Drop ones with her. From my previous enquires with other members on this board and others, it seemed like the EB were middle of the road. If you haven't heard any Fostex in past .. any one of them is worth owning! So even if you get the MH, you will be happy is my guess.
I'm guessing this model like everything else post COVID is just more expensive...price of wood in general has skyrocketed but that price increase for the base model is just...ouch! Wish the headband was updated to somehow justify this?
Wow, it's finally back, and even more overpriced than before. $500+ for the Ebony was already pushing it, but this? lol
And they're gone. Guess they just found some lying around in the warehouse. FYI they were $550, which I believe is $130 more than they were originally
At least now we know why Drop made these unavailable for quite awhile. It was so they could mark it up by $150 when they brought it back. At least it's the one with the removable cables.
