Just a friendly warning from me. Due to past issues with the discussion trending towards xenophobic, I will be taking a hard stance on comments that attack the country of origin and don’t add anything to the conversation. I welcome any technical questions or comments regarding WE Knives in regards to their methods or workmanship, but will not tolerate any broad sweeping statements or speculations in regards to their country or workers. Thanks everyone.

They have gotten feedback on the screws and for the most part it's not a problem, the people who stripped screws was due to them doing it wrong being a novice. But lots of people just don't like it, soi I hear we knives is going to make a change in screws once the models they planned are done.
Let's not forget the knife in this drop is not using star bit screws. I have a knife from Vlad that's produced by we. It's called Pioneer of the Nile, and it doesn't have star shaped hardware either. I've taken it apart several times without issues, the hardware is not soft.
Hey Everyone,
Thanks for your interest in this collaboration! It’s one of the most exciting for our team because it represents our first step into knife collaborations. This product is also exciting because it’s a three way collaboration between Massdrop, Ferrum Forge, and WE Knife Co. We’ve covered the Massdrop and Ferrum Forge parts extensively in the description, but we know country of origin is a VERY popular discussion topic on all knife drops (brought up in 90%+ of knife discussions) so we’d like to address it. This knife is designed in California and made in China by WE Knife.
Founded in 2000, WE Knife is located in Yangjiang City in the Guangdong Province of China, an area famous for making knives, kitchen sets, and other hardware. After 14 years of producing products for other brands as an unnamed manufacturing partner, the company sharpened its focus on precision knife making and changed its name to WE Knife in 2014.
WE Knife has been on the forefront of innovation ever since, setting a new standard for manufacturing in a country that’s often misperceived as having a low bar for quality. Thanks to a professional research and development team, high-quality CNC machines, electric discharge machines, laser-engraving machines, titanium anodizers, and more than 100 carefully selected staff members, WE Knife manufacturers knives at the highest tolerances. The result is enduring, near-custom knife quality that american designers are excited to associate with their name.
All this is great, but as LeVar Burton used to tell us on Reading Rainbow, you don’t have to take my word for it. Here’s a few words from Chris and Elliot at Ferrum Forge that talk about why we’re working with WE:
“The decision to go with WE Knives was very daunting for us and came at the end of an exhaustive search for a manufacturer that could produce the precision we need to see as knife Makers. WE Knives blew us away with their capability to produce the level of quality and precision that we demand and is necessary to make our designs. They have the precision machinery, professionalism, and the experienced team necessary to build high quality knives that broke our presuppositions about Chinese manufacturing quality and gave us the utmost confidence that WE Knives is the best option to bring the Falcon to life” - Chris and Elliot of Ferrum Forge
Finally, a quick reminder that the Falcon will be serialized, and the first 400 purchasers are guaranteed a serial number below 500.
Thanks again for your interest in this drop and don't hesitate to respond to this post with questions. I’ll be here to answer throughout this pre-launch period and at various points during the drop.

That Septer is a beauty! Thanks for sharing! still begs the question on why Massdrop/FF isn’t planning on fixing the flaw with the Falcon/Crux! can They create a clip like the septer?

"Ignore" because it will cost them to fix. Too bad for the early adopters or guinea pigs.

Clip design.
Trying to see if there is any interest in a deep carry clip for this knife. I reached out to a couple people who may be able to do this and if it is feasible I may send them my clip (or knife) to see what they can do. Would people be interested in these and at what price point? The people I have been looking at sell in the $30 range, I am just curious if that is too much or ok. Any thoughts would be awesome!

Count me in if the price is proportional to the cost of the knife.

I want to back this knife but there are too many questions remaining. With a blade so small the addition of a finger choil really reduces the cutting edge to around 2 inches. The blade stock is so thick for a small knife without enough blade height to allow the grind to get thin enough for slicing behind the edge. For a blade so small this isn't designed to be hard use, it should be a slicer, yet the blade stock is so thick. Comparing it to the spyderco dragonfly it is heavier (no interior milling of the handles), it is larger with no real advantage in blade length, no deep carry clip, not a slicer, no warranty, and no actual reviews of how the knife performs or feels in hand (ergonomics). It is also a bad look for massdrop when questions such as these are not addressed definitively, or ignored. What is good about this knife is it is a flipper that looks nice. But when you are trying to bring the price down to where it is at, you are trying to make a user, which this is not. Disappointing for a knife created by an "enthusiast" site.

Wow, it's too bad you're trying to have a real discussion. Many members refuse to even discuss issues they're so harshly criticizing.

Gunmonkey ...Some of your questions you are asking are really unfair/dumb, please name any knife company that posts the blade thickness behind the edge? Cutting edge is 2 7/16" (by my tape measure) Is it a good slicer? Depends of the user doesn't it to some extent? How does it feel in hand? Again depends on the size of your hand doesn't it? That's just a dumb question. I have a Septer (if you're familiar) the Falcon is very close in size to the falcon but the Septer has a longer cutting edge by 3/8" and it's handle is just a hair under 4" whereas the Falcon handle is just a bit more than 3 3/4". Funny though the Falcon fills the hand better than the Septer...much better IMO. And feels more comfortable even though it measures smaller. As far as blade thickness the Falcon has thinner blade stock (better for slicing) Septer .173 thick WOW! Falcon .155 between the two knives I prefer the Falcon in ALL regards it feels better in the hand doesn't feel smaller at all the jumping on blade spine is very grippy but not overly so and it has a full size finger choil. Lastly the Falcon has the same jumping on the flipper tab, the Septer doesn't have any. The Septer cost around $400, the Falcon plain version $125 AND who uses reverse grip anyway? This isn't a fighting knife it a EDC which it does very nicely. I hope you can make a better informed decision whether or not to buy one.

If only it didn't have "Massdrop" written on the blade. That's definitely a deal breaker.

I think he did an excellent job with articulating his point, @Detex. I know that I would not want MD's logo on my knife, at least not in its current state. They could have easily placed a subtle logo somewhere out of the way, but the route they chose to go with is, IMO, rather tasteless. I joined the drop for their latest collab by waking up to an alarm I set specifically for purchasing a product that I was very stoked about. I didn't even want to look at too many photos in order to keep anticipation high. Well, when I did give into temptation and looked, I saw that God-awful logo on what is being touted as a "gentleman's folder", and it really deflated the whole experience for me. I'm going to see how I feel about it once it's in hand, but there is a good chance I will likely try and sell it, or give it as a gift. Do I care what people think? In certain instances, yeah, of course I do. Anyone that says they don't is full of shit. In this case, however, I don't have even the slightest modicum of concern as to whether someone knows that Mass Drop played a part in the production of my knife. This is about the intrinsic value that I place on an object. I would love to have a 2017 Audi S4. *Would I purchase one if discounted to the unbelievably low price of $30k, under the condition that it was covered with a gigantic, "Carl Jenkins Audi, Mercedes, and Lexus" logo"? SHIIIIIIIIT no, that would kill an otherwise beautiful experience I wanted to have with that automobile, thereby making it not worth it, even at that price. On the flip side, I purchased a Moto G 5 plus cell phone from Amazon at a mildly discounted price in exchange for dealing with their ads on my lockscreen. It's the same situation, except I place very little intrinsic value on a cell phone. I weighed the +/- of the situation, and felt it was a worthwhile sacrifice.
I think that most people expressing displeasure with MD branding these knives the way they did probably do so for similar reasons. Sure, some knife snobs probably don't like it because they don't want others to judge them, but that's not the case for me, and I presume ArchLT.
*Editor's note: Realistically, I'd buy that son of a bitch in a heartbeat, immediately paint over that stupid logo, and drive it like I stole it.

Hey everyone, based on the comments I wanted to clarify a few things about these pocket clips…
1) All members who file support tickets due to bending or breakage will be offered the new version as a replacement at no charge. They are not yet available, but we do expect they will arrive sometime in March (WE Knife, and most Chinese factories, are closed for the New Year holiday during much of February.) We've heard that some members got conflicting information from our support team, so if you feel that you should get a replacement under warranty, please do let us know by replying to the same thread, or opening a new ticket and we'll take care of you.
2) Any members who simply prefer the new clip will be offered the discount as previously described, after we have shipped all of the clips needed as replacements.
3) If you would prefer to get a replacement clip sooner, we should have about 125 original style clips available later this month. Clips are generally recognized by knife manufacturers and consumers as “wear and tear” items. While we stand by our warranty for the Falcon and all knives, you should expect some stipulation in future drops regarding a limited time period for no-cost replacements on pocket clips only. There’s a very good reason that almost every major manufacturer offers them for sale separately, and that a whole niche industry of aftermarket clips exists.
For any questions about clip replacements, please submit a support request through your original transaction record, located in your member profile. Thanks everyone for letting us know how you feel about this and helping to drive our rapid product development cycle.

I'm sorry I didn't find this information eariler today as I placed an order for one. I'm not quite sure what to expect now. There been talk about size and the clip. I'll have to see what your return policy is should want to see what the detent is about. Was this one buyer experience or have many buyers had this problem? The price was so attractive and the maker and designer sold me as We has such a good reoutation it eas hard to pass it up. This is my first purchase with Mass drop and difficult to pass up although I have so many knives of this size and materials. I'll be patiently waiting it's arrival . Thanks, Ed.

JonasHeinemanIs there any way for me to purchase a new lock bar insert for my falcon?
Before going into detail about this knife I'll just share a few pics of it, I know that's what most people want:

So after getting to play around with this knife for ~week, I must say that I am utterly impressed with it. It screams quality. The knife feels very sturdy and does have some good weight to it. The knife flips open with almost no effort at all, I LOVE it. I found myself constantly opening/closing it just because it was so satisfying.
Unlike a lot of knives I've owned, this one has no flex between the blade and handle when open. It definitely feels like a knife that can take a significant beating and still work perfectly. It is a knife that is made to be used. The screws are also very sturdy and won't strip when taking the knife apart to clean. Thank god. I've had too many decent knives ruined by cheap screws, and finding replacements is just a PITA and not something you want to do for a knife in this price range.

I too could have easily read the "tone" as not so funny but "it's all good" and no offense taken from Mikael. Not everyone has a hobby or 7 (lol) but for sure my wife doesn't really give me any grief. She knows we both do as we are able/comfortable in doing and no more. We're still spending on our new house but it's ok to have a few personal toys in the meantime. Currently loving my new Maratac 90 degree AAA light.

I'm admittedly a knife noob that recently decided to find a decent EDC. No current plans to be a collector. Did some light research and decided the Spyderco delica 4 most closely fit my needs of being discreet, well-made, small and light with good cutting capabilities for light work. This knife, however, seems to have similar qualities to what I am after while potentially being the next tier up as far as materials used. So should I bother stepping up to this knife over the delica for my first EDC. *The price factor isn't a concern if the difference comes with increased quality. **I realize that what I'm asking is highly subjective. I don't need absolutes, just opinions. Thanks in advance.
