Those IEMs are incredible value at their drop price.
I myself owned PX for about a year and love them. Got P2 for my son 2 months ago, and he loves his pair, but I got in a bit of a of a trouble for not getting pair for my daughter as well since she liked their fit/isolation much more than Westone UM1 I got for her. Now I can get another pair for her, and a pair for myself as well. Sidenote - everybody in family preferred fit of Pinnacles, and after running short sound quality test of UM1 vs P2... P2 wins on every front... UM1 is thinner, more artificial, harsher treble, unnatural/flat soundstage, bass-shy and does not isolate well... they are kinda... like ER4S in many ways and I am not saying that as a compliment... and this comes from a guy that likes his gear to be very much neutral.
Quick listening observation from one evening I had those P2 IEMs: they fit as well as PX or better (given that they are more lightweight), they are definitely more focused on low end, but in a sensible way. Straight out of Opus #3 DAP, P2 sounds (arguably) better for a lot of music (giving more balanced, warm sound with good fill for low end), with PX maybe having an edge on classical. That changes when switching to not-portable-at-all hi-end amp (Auralic Taurus MkII in my case, total overkill, I know) - both P2 and PX scale very well in that setup, but PX goes further and wins in detail/precision department (creating stiff competition for HE560 over-the-ears) with its bass being just enough, and being very tight and precise, and P2 starts to sound maybe a tiny bit too bassy and stompy in that setup, with soundstage/imaging surprisingly similar in both cases. Oh, all those comparisons were done with $26 balanced no-name OCC wire from China (which was a huge upgrade for either iem), I do not care much for factory wiring on neither of those headphones, although I agree with others, P2 wiring feels especially cheap and springy.
I also have a pair of SoundMagic PL50... and while I like them for podcasts... there is no comparison to Pinnacle IEMs when it comes to music, absolutely none. Those P2's are a steal at their current massdrop price no matter how you look at them... use them as they are on a lawnmower, take them on a plane (for noise isolation), or replace cable with balanced OCC wiring and plug into good DAP/amp for sublime music quality...
David_LogrThe P2 is warmer and ergonomically superior. Classically leaning more V shaped with some upper mids and lower treble brightness. Never found it harsh. The T2, and the rest of the line, was just too bright and sibilant for me (sometimes). Felt the highs were too boosted compared to the rest of the range. And I didn't love the fit. The stock P2 cable kinda sucks but at this price point, I don't think many will complain.
This is a fantastic deal. I picked up the P2 for $70 in the recent blue box (was listening to them when I saw this deal today).
It was a steal at that price. At $42, it's hard to imagine a better deal. For context, these are selling in the same price range as the frequently recommended budget champs, SoundMagic's E10, and the P2 blow those out of the water.
I picked up two of these for gifts. They have nice packaging that aligns much more with their list price than their selling price here. These would be a great entry point for someone wondering what good headphones sound like.
Soundwise, they are solid all-arounders. Pretty balanced, good clarity, with no heavy emphasis that stands out starkly. They have more bass than the P1/PX, but they aren't bass heavy. My only real complaint is the cable, which is rather thick and stiff. Here is a real world shot, along with a side-by-side with their PX big brother.
GunsOfBrixtonI agree with everything you said. Spot-on review. I got mine on Amazon for a bit under $70 and they definitely sound like they're worth more than their price tag. I still like the PX a bit more overall but only when I have the amp to push them. The P2 are definitely the better EDC pair.
I ordered these and they will arrive soon. Reading lots about people replacing the cable. What cable would you recommend? 3,5mm jack, no mic. Thanks in advance! (Europe, btw)
Looks like we are in the same boat on this one. From the get go I realized that the cables near the earpiece were thin and delicate , devoid of any sort of reinforcing with thicker rubber or plastic. I thought it may be have been due to my occasional usage going with it for gym sessions but now i really feel that its the usual daily usage of the iems being coiled for storage, being entangled etc. Oh well.... i guess replaceable cables are still the way to go.
Very tempting at this price.
P1/PX seems more neutral with better stage/separation in reviews.... but notice manufacturer recommends using with amp. I prefer something I can drive directly from a portable device. Anybody have experience with P1/PX who can comment on sound quality without amp?
I currently have EDC3 and Tin T2 pro at the moment. Love the fit of the EDC3 but feel bass and stage could be better. Tin T2 pro is a bit better in these respects but just isn't comfortable for me. Any thoughts how P2 compare? Sidegrade? Upgrade in any respect?
dgt5I have the edc1s and they have nice bass. Not a ton, but I've heard they have more than the edc3s do. I haven't heard the 3s to confirm though. If these are as comfortable as the edcs, it's worth a try $$. Makes long phone calls nice. Anyone on long wear comfort / sleeping?
dgt5I have the PX. They need to be amped to sound good. I cannot drive them satisfactorily from my Pixel 2(via dongle), my iPhone 6s+, or my iPad Pro.
The PX are extremely comfortable. I have been eyeing the P2 because I wanted a little more bass response from the PX and also something I could drive without an amp. I ended up getting a set of MD Noble Luxe which I really like, but at this price the 02 are hard to pass up on.
