When it comes to getting the best audio quality from your computer or portable device, your soundcard isn’t going to cut it. You need a digital-to-audio converter designed for optimal decoding, and the Hi mDAC Signature from NuPrime is here to deliver Read More
SaitoHajimeFrom what the specs was written, The Hi-Mdac Signature have better measurement compare to the original one (frequency response, s/n ratio, THD+N)
How does this connect to a USB C android phone? There are suggestions it requires a USB C to OTB USB A adapter, and then USB A OTB back to USB C. A simple USB C to USB C cable won't work - if that's true it's completely nuts. Can we get some clarity on this?
Is it just me or is the product description for this one even more of a word salad than usual for audio gear? Like, not knowing what the "A" in DAC is is kind of weird, off the bat.
Also, does this mean...anything?
"Precise channel mixing and volume matching of both analog output levels enable a seamless transition between DSD and PCM paths. Ground-centered and outfitted with proprietary AC impedance detection, the Hi mDAC Signature can handle any pair of headphones at home or on the go."
So, I for one would like to know if this measures better, or even similarly to the Hidiz S8 and Tempotec Sonota HD, which use the same DAC chips and a similar form factor, but different aesthetics for... Quite a bit less.
Well, the S8/Tempotec Sonata HD both measure better than the DFR. I've had people tell me it's audible, but that's a question ultimately only you can answer. May be worth selling the DFR and picking up the S8 instead. But realistically, I'm not sure if you'd hear a difference.
TaylorDlol yeah I suspect I'll hear more of the tonal characteristics as oppose to how well it measures (low noise floor, low distortion.......etc). So at that point I suspect it's more like preference I think. Maybe I'll keep the Dragonfly Red for now because I like how warm it sounds despite not measuring well. Thanks for the insight though!
AlltheheadphonesWell, I have all the truly portable DAC/amp devices out now, as long as they are larger than a pencil: Tempotec Sonata HD Pro, 9038s, ifi HipDAC, Nuprime mDAC, Lotoo PAW S1, etc... If you are using IEMs, you certainly dont need the HipDAC. Actually, I'm not sure why anyone would choose the HipDAC if all they use is IEMs... It's the lowest on the list for me and I can guarantee it's the worst measuring of them all.
Just get a Tempotec Sonata HD Pro for IEMs and call it a day. Or this. The extra $80 this cost over the Tempotec is worth it for me just to have the 100 level volume control.
Also, I would just purchase the regular one of these off Amazon. It's cheaper. And I couldn't find anywhere in Drop's listing stating that this was different in anyway except for the outside... which looks gaudy af IMO.
