Would like to point out that the d20 and d12 that came with my shipment have printing that is not centered. Additionally, the d20 and the d10 (double digit) are not of the same translucence as the other dice. I'm not sure if that's intended, but it does make the set look inconsistent.
gheistOpalite is manmade opalescent glass. Still glass, still heavy. The fine suspension trait of the opalescence causes the thicker dice to be less translucent. They are all the same material, which is glass. The air bubbles are merely an after effect of the glass forming process.
noideas4thisnamei paid more than this to buy them on amazon. first time rolling them, corner of the 4 sided die shattered, like yours. saw this drop and it reminded me to reach out to the shop via their site, so i just did. hoping they replace it.
Right there with you unfortunately... received the Blue Sandstone version of this vendors dice yesterday and 2/7 of the dice came with dings. With each dice being individually packaged in bubble wrap and of "High Quality" and "Hand Polished".... makes me a bit dubious of the quality control here for sure.
I also wish they would have etched the #'s in, few of the numbers are not centered and a few nail scratches and the silkscreened #'s are already starting to wear off... and this is all before my first roll with them!!
Hoping the Opalites are a bit better.
As pretty as these are, the numbers are just printed on the sides. They do not appear to be recessed like most nice, a technique that preserves the number and keeps the paint from wearing off. :(
I would love to be wrong about that, of course, but that's what it looks like.
MordentThe numbers are indeed printed, but they have received very good reviews for durability. For any stone dice, we recommend rolling them individually on padded surfaces. Overall, they are durable for practical use.
MetallicDiceGamesI appreciate the advice on padded rolling surfaces but my chief concern is the numbers rubbing off due to finger oils. This is a serious concern for someone like me who can't use a keyboard with painted letters for more than six months before the letters start to erode. :(
DaraWow, the prints on the D4 is so off centered the pic is almost an optical illusion. Took me a few seconds to figure out the orientation of the die.
aestheticjmackThey actually meant "Arabic numerals," which is not just a font, but the name for the number system used on these dice. They mean they have numbers on them instead of pips or some other system.
See https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Arabic_numerals
These are gemstone dice. It's quite obvious that they can break. Roll them on padded surface/tray.
I personally don't use them, they are collectibles.
Go metal or plastic if you want durability.
Would it be possible to add an option to pay more and get a set of 4 d6's in the set? I would be more inclined to join the drop if I could get a full set of d6's.
