This is literally the MSRP
what is the advantage to using massdrop here compared to just buying it direct?

sdongIs it really that hard to read the description, or go to the order page? The description shows that the final price will be a 20% discount over the standard pricing.

jsangermanit mentions in the description that that's the lowest price that they can advertise, but you get a 20% discount at checkout. Therefore, it's essentially 20% off MSRP...

I have a V2 and V3. The V2 is way better. The standard plate on the V3 isn't even backwards compatible. They also got rid of the adjustment knob that tightens the grip on the plate. Now The plate has permanent wiggle room which is awful if you're hiking and bouncing around.

The knob to tighten it for when carrying it for longer periods of time - like when going hiking as you mentioned so I can understand it being an issue completely. For me personally, I need to take it in/out quick and frequently and not lock it down. The knob to tighten and loosen wasn't necessary and besides trying it on day 1, it was never used again. I know you can tighten just enough where it doesn't hold it but just reduces the space, but sometimes it catches it so I always had it out of the way - so for me it wiggled on both - but this space makes for easier/faster in and out. No wiggle means resistance/friction so there's always wiggle by pure physics of two objects coming together, it just depends on how much is too much, and i agree, there seems to be a bit more on V3 than is needed. BUT, for me, when the camera is in there this wiggle isn't felt or an issue off a belt - perhaps when strapped to a shoulder backpack when hiking I would imagine you can feel the shake/wiggle given it's directly felt off your chest.

FrankyI see what you mean. IMO it'd be nice to have features of both. Reduced weight and profile from the V3 and the option to tightly secure the connection from the V2.

So I'm dithering a little bit... I want to want one of these, but a friend had an early one which I borrowed and really found frustrating to use. I found the whole setup, on a backpack strap or belt, kinda floppy and annoying. And I really struggled with finding a comfortable way to get to the button to release it.
I've seen a couple responses below that the various revisions have provided improvement. How big a difference do the new button and lack of tensioner really make?
And watching the videos I wonder if the pro-pad would alleviate some of my frustrations. Anybody have any thoughts/experiences with the pro-pad?
Also, what are people's preferences for when the camera is out of the clip? Though I use a neck strap on my cameras now, more often than not I wind up with the strap wrapped 2-3 times around my wrist while I'm walking around. The same friend who loaned me the clip also had the "palm strap" or whatever, and I found it really cumbersome... I could either have it tight enough to feel secure *or* loose enough I could reach all the controls, but not both. Maybe a simple "slip knot" type tether around the wrist would be better for my use?

Just_RobI use the clip V2 on my bag and it's sturdy on the strap but with some weight like my old nikon it is a little (bouncy/wobbly) however with my lighter Sony it seems fine. I used the v3 on my belt and hated it because it had to be sideways and I often either hit the button with my leg or stomach. Adding the pro pad helped and now I love it on my belt. I recomend a thick sturdy belt to make it have better contact. I dont have a wrist or hand strap just the neck strap from PD which I don't use very often because I use use the clip most often and don't like having extra things moving around.

Just_RobI use v3 for a few months now (purchased when it was KickStarter), with v2 for over a year professionally. When on a belt, I usually have it at angle (about 30-45 degrees) this make it easier to put on and off I found - and hitting the release button this way. Also, when sitting down during receptions with the camera, the camera lens can goes towards your crotch area rather than hitting your leg. Of course, if you're using something larger like a 24-70 lens then the pro pad may be better suited. I'm usually with a 85 or 35 with a full frame sony's a7 series camera. Note, the v3 doesn't have the tightening screw that the v1/v2 had so on a backpack strap, I would imagine by "flopping" you mean it's shaking ever so slightly perhaps (?) but given it's directly sitting on your chest you feel it and perhaps the v2 is better suited but know if you tighten too much to secure it, it would be more friction to remove/reinsert. For me personally, I like the v3 as it's smaller and when sitting doesn't eat into your leg. Hope this helps.. one last note, the v3's plate that goes on the camera is a great improvement over the v2: it's much slimmer and adjustable back and front allowing it to work on smaller cameras without poking out under the lcd screen, like the a6000-a6500 cameras without needing the microPlate any more which I think they stopped selling because this new plate is more universal.
For anyone going to the PhotoExp show in NYC in two weeks, Peak Design will be there again showcasing all their gear - very helpful to see/demo it sometimes in person.

Quick review: I started using the v2 over two years ago and love the concept, design and execution of the product. I get stopped more hiking now from other hikers asking how my camera is hitched to my backpack strap than for anything else, ever.
When the v3 came out, I hopped on it, everyone should, it's that much better than the v2. It's lighter, sleeker, built better and honestly I never needed to adjust the tension from the v2.
Here's the sucky part. If you want to use this on anything other than a thin canvas belt, you need longer bolts. They are still not making the longer bolt set in v3 style, and the v2 long bolts will very likely end up rubbing the bottom plate of your camera. My fuji is magnesium but some of the pain has already started chipping off from the light contact / rubbing of putting the camera in and out.
You need the longer bolts but it might be worth throwing some gaf tape over the bottom plate of your camera to protect it.

LefibonacciIt's $69.99 on the Peak website. All you get here is free shipping, so sure you save like 6 bucks. I'd rather buy it from them and not have to deal with Massdrop customer support for any reason, like if the product is defective. Ah I see, you get a 20% discount at checkout. Alright, not a bad deal, saving about $20. An additional clip is also $10 less than from Peak.

yokkenI tend to buy from local businesses. Which, for me, MassDrop is a local business - one which happens to have the best price (locally) on the capture clip that I can find. Everything else is brick-&-mortar which is cause for price increase.

valkyriesoundIn the above example you are ordering 2 of each of the items chosen. If you would like 2 Black Capture Kit sets and 1 Sony Lens kit then the order should look like this:
