Product Description
Stylish and functional, Peak Design camera straps are versatile enough for use out in the field or walking around town. There are three styles: the Slide Lite, the Slide, and the Leash Read More
You know, you could make the neck strap out of kryptonite for all I care; it's the skinny little loop that passes through the camera's lug that bears the weight of body and lens. If I were a crop or mirrorless shooter I might consider this system--but if you're carrying a $3,000-plus, full-frame body and lens, this system is for the very brave or very foolish. I wouldn't trust any system that didn't allow my hand to be in direct contact with the body at all times.
Therefore, I use the SpiderPro Hand Strap on my D800e and D850, exclusively!
You know, just say'n...
I use a Slide Lite with my Fujifilm X-T1 and I enjoy the strap.
Notice how they give you two extra anchors with the kit? You can attach one of those to the buckle you connect to your bottom anchor.
Why do this? It allows you to move the buckle on the left anchor to the bottom for a CustomSLR-style center-only carry, which gets the strap out of the way when you're holding the camera in portrait orientation. And once you have the two ends of the strap connected, you can disconnect the bottom anchor and take your camera strap-free while keeping the strap secure around your body. From there it's just one clip to reattach the camera when you need both hands free again.
Could anyone with experience with both models comment on the Slide vs. Slide Lite debate? I'm going to be upgrading from a Canon 70D to a Sony A7 III (DSLR to Mirrorless) and plan on using a few small primes, the 24-105 midsize, and perhaps a larger telephoto later down the road.
My immediate impulse is to go with the Slide Lite, but I fear that there may be comfort/pragmatic perks to going with the Slide.
Can anyone with some real hands-on time comment?
Thank you!
FlyingDiscIt is a lot, but the best comes at a price. I put anchors on all 3 dslr bodies I have and transfer the strap around. I sort of figure my value as divided by 3 that way.
FlyingDiscIt is a lot. Whether your gear cost a few hundred or several thousand dollars, a $10 strap is more than capable of doing the job.
I like these a lot, but I'm not the kind of guy who can spend $50 on a piece of nylon webbing. For those that can, I'm sure these straps are great. We all know the purchase was an indulgence, though, and not a necessity. Why pretend it was anything else?
If anyone ordered, my Leash came with V3 Anchors instead of V4 anchors.
While an insanely low failure rate of 7 out of over 1 million, Peak Design is replacing all V3 Anchors for V4 anchors for free. Just fill out the form on their website.
Just would like to say the slide lite is a great strap. I've also owned the regular one since the Kickstarter and it sits there collecting dust. Much too big for even a large mirrorless like the A73. Might be ok for a large DSLR though but I'd recommend the lite personally.
EdgarI agree completely with Edgar. i found the padding built into the regular slide to be unneeeded for my Olympus EM1 II, even with a larger telephoto and battery grip, and makes the strap bulkier and tougher to transport. I also ordered a SlideLite and am very happy with it.
It's completely ridiculous that if there are limited quantities of something that MD doesn't tell us. I set a reminder to buy this because I was busy at the time i saw it, and low and behold when I go to place my order I can't get a clutch because it is "sold out".
True, but I already have a sling and clutch and love them both so time really isn't of the essence. I'm looking to have an extra for my back-up camera so this was a perfect opportunity for me to pick them up.
I'm thinking about buying this item, will it arrive before may eleventh? I ask this because I'm going to the USA in may, and I will get it from a friends house on may 12......
My shipping wasn't slow by any means. I just think this product is good enough to buy in a store, even if it's msrp. I went to B&H and was so tempted to get this strap early, but didn't because I was waiting on shipping. I'm happy with my product, so much so that I had a hard time waiting.
If you just GOTTA have it like I did, then just go buy it. You won't be disappointed either way.
