I've owned this device since day 1 it came out. To say it is exceptionally great is an understatement. Best Bluetooth audio I've ever heard. With 2.5mm balanced support, LDAC, and multipoint pairing, it is my go to mobile device. This Lil bugger can drive my HD650s with ease. HIGHLY recommended especially at this price. P.S. The app is unbelievably good. Don't skip on using it!

ElzizoCan second this. I'm listening through it right now, driving my HE-4XX . I also use the ES100 with a FiioF9 pro, which is actually how I listen to it most of the time. The 2.5 mm balanced output can even power stuff with high impedance, supposedly... Battery life can last you all day depending on how loud you listen or how much juice your cans/iems need. If you run out of juice you can even use your phone to charge it if you have the right cables. I've only experienced one moment of frustration with it: while out and about the device froze and couldn't pair or play anything. It was frustrating, and nothing fixed it until I got it plugged back in to a charger. Now I make sure to carry that cable all the time, but it's only happened once. Got it off Amazon a while ago for $100, so if you're not in a rush and want to save $20 don't miss out on this drop. It's perfect for listening on the go, at work and traveling, which is what I use it for. 5/5 stars from me.

beardieboi> The 2.5 mm balanced output can even power stuff with high impedance, supposedly It's not just that. I can clarify the "Dualdrive" options they have:
  1. 2.5mm balanced out can be switched to high voltage mode (2x Voltage) which can be useful for headphones that are high-impedance and NOT high-sensitivity, such as AKG K7 series
  2. 3.5mm single-ended out can be switched to high performance mode (2x current) which can be useful for headphones that are low-impedance and NOT high-sensitivity, like some planars

I will second all the comments about how great this little thing can be but will add 1 caveat: There are a number of complaints on Amazon, and I have now personally experienced it myself - that build quality is poor, and my unit which was a Christmas gift in 2018 has stopped charging as of last week at just a tick over 6mos old. I submitted a ticket through the Radsone website nearly a full week ago and have not received a reply. I'm emailing the direct support email today and will advise how this claim goes.

Radsone_EmilyMy original submission was 6/5; after 5 days of waiting I finally got a response. Due to the time difference between Asia and the Eastern US all communications lag by a day. Back and forth a couple times the nameless rep who responds finally provided a code for replacement on 6/19, a full 2 weeks later. Oops! They never asked where I was and provided a code for Canada's Amazon.ca, which won't allow me to ship the product to the US, and the code isn't valid for Amazon.com. 6/20 I reply and say as above, radio silence. Again on 6/24, no answer. And again today, 3 weeks after my initial contact. At this point nearly 7 mos. later, my MIL's Christmas gift is unusable, I have no replacement, the service is terrible and the only silver lining is that it's not *my* money that was put out for the product. I really want to love it, it really is great, but I've seen too many of these stories of them going kaput and if it's this hard to get service I can't justify spending money with this company.

If you don't have one get one... there isn't anything on the market that comes close. Works super well with Android and iOS devices but isn't too bad with DAPs/PC's.

Ghost_1I 100% agree with Ghost_1. I've had mine for a year and nothing is even comparable to the quality this bluetooth dac provides. turn any headphones into a wireless set up with this amazing little device!

A HUGE word of warning for anyone looking to use the ES100 with a pair of IEM/CIEM - While the device does a great job at everything it's advertising to do, there is an extremely loud, high pitched chime that kicks off when you first start the device, when you connect to Bluetooth, or when you plug in/disconnect from a charger. While using this with my JH Audio Roxanne CIEMs, the sound is ear splitting and very painful. Since there does not appear to be a way to adjust the level or a way to disable the sound (...and why they chose a high pitched tone for something you're putting on/in your ear is beyond me) , it's important to be aware of this and keep your hearing safe. My advice is to avoid having your IEMs fully inserted in any of the above situations.
JuvenallAlso, I got in touch with Radsone support and they confirmed (after a very long delay) they will not be implmenting AptX-LL and LHDC support in the ES100. Those hoping for the feature(s) seeping in through a firmware upgrade can kiss the hope goodbye. I had parallely contacted FiiO and they were very quick and precise in confirming what they will and won't support without slinging mud on the competition. I went in the for the FiiO BTR3 at US$ 55 from AliExpress (after a bunch of discounts) and use it happily. Though the Radsone folks have compared their ES100 with BTR3 and claim the latter is not good with using the CSR stack, I did not find any such perceivable flaw with the BTR3. Besides, the BTR3 supports almost every wireless audio protocol out there, and FiiO's customer support is impressive! That was enough for me. Note: The BTR3 has a better DAC and stronger build as well.

hoodafukisaliceAptX-LL and LHDC are fairly new and currently have limited support on the source side. There are more receiver products out there, but still limited. Based on the technologies used support probably needs more than a firmware flash and the design is 2016 - 2017. To compete they will have to introduce new products with the ability to provide support for AptX-LL and LHDC and future technologies for the next few years. I bought mine in late 2017 when BT5 wasn't available on any BT headphones and with LDAC on my G7 I hardly could tell the difference between wired and BT (I am kind of old). For the price at the time ($99) this couldn't be beat and for $79 you'll be hard pressed to find a device with all of these features.

Would this be recommended over the AK XB10? Just received the AK XB10 from last drop. Really happy with it so far. I’m curious what advantages the ES100 would have over the AK XB10.

beginering@niron, @massdrobert, @PaulNS - I appreciate all the response. I think you've given me what I need. I'll likely stick with the XB10 only. Although ES100 seems to have some pretty good features, for my use case, I'm fine with the simplicity of the XB10, and couldn't justify the added $80 for two somewhat similar items. Thanks again.

You're wrong the AK XB10 also has 2.5mm balanced (was the first). However the XB10's battery life is abysmally bad. Probably what's the strongest trait of the ES100 is the accompanying app from Radsone.

This is hands down the best portable device that offers great single ended and balanced performance. The battery life is stellar as well as the variety of Bluetooth codec support. This is great for activating Developer Mode on your Android phone or tablet (Oreo or higher) and turning it into a near/lossless digital player via LDAC or AptxHD. You can also turn it into a high quality USB DAC that has also reclocks signals pretty damn well to reduce and eliminate jitter associated with USB transport. There’s excellent app support on Android and iPhone. I wish this app was also available on PC. However, the options you set are saved and carry over until changed. This device typically does not require a driver for Windows. It has additional output features for 48k frequency in the Mac as well. However, Apple devices are usually locked to AAC or SBC — according to my research. All in all, this device is perfect. Everything it offers is great and does not overextend its reach! I’ve given a few of these gifts! Enjoy!

jaydunndidditAgreed. So glad I came across this piece of audio equipment and bought one. When I switched to a phone with no headphone jack, this was a lifesaver. Even the app is good.

I agree with everyone else's comments about "it's awesome!" I bought one as soon as firmware unlocked LDAC and haven't looked back when listening off of a phone or laptop while traveling. It just does so much, and has impressive support after purchase (in terms of updates and non-obsolesence). I also secretly hope this is an inventory clear out prior to an upgraded unit with a sturdier case and USB C... I don't care if that combination cost $150, I would but it all day long.

aufmerksamYeah, I'll be waiting for type-C. Not worth the cost to upgrade just for a small quality bump from the 4.1 aptX ones I have currently.

aufmerksamI'll definitely pick up an upgrade model of it has USB-C, better buttons and build. It can still be plastic (polycarbonate) but of a higher quality that's worthy of the devices otherwise excellent capabilities.

How is the real world battery life, does it use usb C or micro B, and how is the warranty. At $80 it’s steep for using it to replace a built in 3.5, but I haven’t seen any other product that does what this claims to do.

Kiyoshi.InotoWhile I'm critical of the ES100, I was able to "listen to a full work day of music" (9+ hours) between charges. It uses a Micro USB connector (so probably USB 2.smth). Longer battery discharge cycles might also might be why my unit kicked the diodes so quickly.. honestly, the unit is so light it feels like it is MISSING a battery.
