The SNZF is a good looking "submariner-style" watch.
The SNZF features the 7S36 movement, which is a robust, but budget movement. It is a non-hacking movement, meaning that when you pull the stem out to set it, it will not stop the second hand from moving. Also, this movement cannot be manually wound, as many of the more prestigious (more expensive) movements can be. Still, it's relatively accurate, has an OK power reserve, and won't give you any trouble.
Case and bracelet are solid. The bracelet has a nice lock and clasp closure, which is very nice and smooth, and the bracelet itself is a solid metal (not bent, hollow metal) oyster style bracelet. For the price, very nice. The back of the case is a clear mineral glass (Seiko's proprietary "hardlex,") which means you can see the movement through the back, which is nice.
Bezel is fine for the price. As some have said, it is reluctant to move around and can be a bit noisy. Also, it is obviously NOT a ceramic bezel as you'd find in a Rolex, given the affordability of this watch.
Overall, this watch is a very solid, robust, good looking homage to a Rolex sub. Many will call this a "desk diver," which it absolutely IS. It is not a proper diver, as it lacks a screw down crown for true diver certification, but it would probably be OK in a pool or a day at the beach. Still, for that dive watch style, in a solid package, for short money, it's a nice little watch.
For a true affordable diver from Seiko, check out the SKX007. It is a little more money, but does feature that screw down crown and diver rating, as well as a solid metal back. It is also much less of an homage to the Rolex sub, so that is another major difference.
Really impressed with such a reliable, simple watch. I have A much more expensive watch and haven’t worn it since I received this. Power reserve is great and every time I put it on in the morning it hasn’t missed a beat.
I hoped the dial was larger, is my only reservation for this watch.
While the watch is good looking, I really don’t like the aspect of having to reset the time and date on a regular basis. I own over twelve watches and rotate them as desired. I rarely wear the same watch on back to back days. I have automatics, battery powered and a great Citizen eco that rarely need reset. This one collects dust.
CharlieMcGI have one wore for a very short time. Loses minutes a week. Hardlex crystal isn’t very scratch resistant. Have to be really careful wearing it. Bought it here some time ago for same price.
Exceptional value. Great size for my wrist. I get so many compliments wearing this. Super accurate. Less than 4 seconds/day gained. Luminous makers are bright and stay lit all night long. Seiko.... hard to beat with a cod fish.
I have a few watches, Breitling 24 hr Cosmonaut, Breitling B2 (the big one), Omega Speed master, and a few others. But this one is a joy- and very inexpensive! It's got a great look, crystal back, automatic, fantastic band lock.. Just a great watch!
