Any update on shipping? I bought two of these as Christmas presents, thinking they would arrive in plenty of time. :(

So I try to cancel my order since Christmas is over and I can't. I receive an error message. I send a message to contact support. No response. Yet strictly by coincidence I'm sure, my order ships the same day. I'm done with you Drop.

No LDAC is a no for me...

LDAC is nice at home, but too subtle to be heard on a commute or in an open office environment. I’m not saying you’re wrong for having a preference, I’m just saying it’s not as big a boost as we might hope if you haven’t compared the codecs yet. You certainly are right that codecs matter more than bluetooth revision!

I’m wondering how the noise canceling works on these, for instance could I be having a conversation with someone and then if a loud machine starts then it would cancel that noise? We couldn’t continue the conversation anyway. So I guess I’m looking for a noise canceling headset that is “open ear” until the ambient noise level becomes excessive and then it protects my hearing. Not so much to listen to music. Although that is a nice feature!

Hmm! Seems you’re a bit more advanced in your knowledge! Well, the ANC will work even if music isn’t playing, and you won’t have any loose wires. It doesn’t have a setting to automatically turn off Transparent Hearing if you were interrupted, but you can set it that Transparent Hearing is only on when you hold your finger on the switch. That’s ok for brief conversations in a predominantly noisy environment. Etymotic has a product that is the inverse. Not particularly cheap, but effective. It is like a pair of earplugs with a hearing aid built-in, amplifying sounds a bit, but as soon as there is a sound above a certain decibel threshold, the microphones turn off and the sound is blocked (9-15 dB). Check this: https://www.etymotic.com/consumer/hearing-protection/mp915.html Personally, I find over ear headsets more comfortable, and I would see if I could use the PXC550 if I didn’t need to hold long conversations or I didn’t need it to automatically switch between clear “transparent hearing” and ANC modes based on the environment, but I own a pair of musicians earplugs for hearing safety (actually, now I own two pairs 😅).

I agree that headphones would be more comfortable but those Etymotic you linked look perfect! The ad copy for them is exactly what I want to hear ;) Thanks!

Nice, been a while since I've seen the new Drop actually offer a good deal like they always used to back when they were MassDrop.

TBH, even when drop was still MassDrop, there weren't a lot of good deals in a couple of years before the rebrand. It just took that long to realize the failure of the MD model (groupbuys for discounts)

Are the PXC550ii in Original Sennheiser packaging or modified packaging from DROP?

Like I said, doesn't look like it. Besides, even 6xx doesn't come in a plain cardboard, there's a Drop/Senn branded retail box. Obviously, the retail box does ship within a plain cardboard box, but that's just for shipping. In this case, it would be a regular Senn retail box within the Drop's shipping cardboard.

This is vendor inventory, not direct from Sennheiser but probably legit.

Not sure if this drop makes me regret pre-ordering the pandas or feel better about my choice. Hmmm.

I got these over Christmas last year. Tried it on and absolutely hated the sound and returned them the next day. These cans heavily rely on DSP, it’s just not the Sennheiser sound we all know and enjoy. I also have the Pandas and the Pandas are way better than these.

Im personally probably going to grab the panda's myself and have yet to find anything that would compare to the overall quality but 400 is a bit pricy.

How are these compared to the PC38x?

Also, how’s the headphone Jack on those Kantos TUK? I’m not familiar with the AMT technology used for the drivers, are they like a Planar Magnetic/Planar leaf driver? My Chane bookshelf speakers use planar leaf tweeters, and I love them. I think it’s interesting the Amazon product images show them hooking it up to a Focal Elear ($1k headphone).

I will say that the headphone jack on them is pretty good. I have a built in HifI solution built into my X570 Aorus master that boosts the volume on the PC38x by about 20%. When plugged directly into the Kanto's it seems it boosts the PC38x by another 20%. The PC38x sounds much much louder connected to the Tuks. I would never use the PC38x on the Tuks though. It's just too much volume. I feel it would damage them over time. Neat that you meantioned the Chane speakers. I was going to buy 3 A2.4s for my setup but decided to go with the Tuks to cut out the 3rd center channel and a stand alone AMP/Receiver. This is all on my desk after all.
