Measuring 2.2 inches long and weighing less than half an ounce, the SMSL IDOL+ is one of the smallest DAC/amps around. But don’t be fooled by its slim profile—it has what it takes to power high-impedance headphones with ease, and supports sampling rates up to 192 kHz. Inside, the IDOL+ is equipped with a VT1620A DAC chip and a MAX97220A headphone amp chip. The exterior is intentionally simple, with a sleek black finish new to this model, and improved controls that are discreet and easy to use. Along with two-button volume control and an on/off button on the top panel, you’ll find a 3.5-millimeter headphone out on one end, and on the other, a USB port for connecting to your laptop or mobile device.
