I'll be the negative nancy on this one. I would strongly advise going with a ProTrek over a Suunto. I finally gave up on my Core All Black earlier this year. First bought this watch about 5 years ago. In the space of 5 years...
I've had two band failures (one replaced under warranty, one not). Bear in mind that the band attachment is proprietary and you can't use aftermarket straps without kloogy adapters.
I've had a total of four watch failures in five years. Two were covered under warranty - in fact, for both they replaced the watch with an entirely new watch that failed again within 6 months. Two were not covered, and I paid for one to the tune of ~$80. The last failure Suunto quoted me $215 to repair it and I told them to keep the thing. Picked up a Casio for much less and have been much happier.
If you look on Watchuseek, the failure rate on these is high, and the issues are recurring even though this model has been in the market for almost 10 years. Some will say that their warranty support is excellent- and I'll agree. It is, but it's still off your wrist for 2-3 weeks every time it needs repair. For this price in this market, you shouldn't need that kind of repair service.
Last, some of the functions on the watch are near useless. The temp and barometric sensors are on the underside of the watch, and only take accurate readings with the watch off your wrist.

gingermediaThe negative reviews on Amazon are enough to discourage me, even though I love its stealthy design.
USD100 might tempt me though, but not more.

gingermediaI've had the same experiences. I'm on my third ProTrek, one black and one metal (and one lost in Indonesia). They are excellent durable watches for the money.

This is only $10 cheaper than Amazon. starting to notice this more and more that the deals on massdrop are not as good as they once were.

Are these watches bought through Suunto or an authorized re-seller? I'am wondering because Suunto will not honor the warranty if it is not bought through them or an authorized re-seller.

jumbocatI contacted massdrop support and this was their response: "Thank you for contacting Massdrop Community Support! For privacy concerns, we are unable to disclose vendor/seller information. I am assuming that part of why you ask is to determine if this watch has a warranty. Reviewing the drop, I am not seeing that it does which would be listed on the drop page. That means that this watch will be subject to our 30-day return policy and should a defect be found in that period we would be happy to help. "

jumbocatThanks for the followup. That sucks. Perhaps we would need to contact Suunto.

Are these new watches or factory rejects/referbs?

That's my problem with buying a lot of items through here. Warranty support can be hard to come by.

PsychomannAgreed. I would love to buy some of these watches but I don’t want factory seconds, refurbs and unsupported junk. I’d rather pay full price and get 2 day shipping.

@TheIzzardKing and @Crim91 I’m not sure you all are aware, but those links that you are posting to troll Massdrop about prices, are failing to show the prices that you are posting in here
Also not everyone has amazon prime. So it’s pointless to the majority. Your points fall on troll ears and fail as a troll and should be ashamed #satire

bjwThey are absolutely relevant considering the point of buying in bulk, and the significant discount that buying in bulk can and does provide. Look at how many of these are already sold in the first day. The price is too high, and that's a fact. If I can buy just one of these at this price, and anyone can at Jomashop right NOW, then there is absolutely no point to this drop, and personally I want to know what it's going for everywhere else. So you're just wrong, we come here for good prices gotten through the power of pooling our resources, and we absolutely should be judging drops by their prices and should be sharing what we found in our searches to determine the drop's relevance, and the waning relevance of Massdrop in general

bjwIf you don’t think MD is a huge rip off, you’re even dumber than you sound. And as per Amazon, that’s irrelevant. Order from ANY other seller and the longest deliv takes is 5 days, not two years

Does this watch have a calendar? Is it visible in the dark? Does it have a light? Does it run off a battery or solar?

I have this watch and another Suunto Core watch.
Good watches except for the brittle strap - THEY WILL BREAK even with just with regular use. Plan on investing in some aftermarket lug adapters to replace the brittle strap

siznarfYou might wanna email Suunto Customer Support. They'll give you the lugs for free. That's what I did. ;)

I wish this was for the positive display model.. I've owned 2 of the negative versions like this and they are just so darn hard to read at times.
