While I understand where you are coming from, please keep in mind that it’s all in the eye - or in this case ear - of the beholder. There are those who would rather listen to a tube amp much more than any solid state amp, even if (or maybe precisely because) tube amps can measure atrociously...

Topping really misjudged the price on this one. Gustard H16 runs circles around it - it's fully balanced with remote and a true preamp function, r2r volume control and costs only $50 more...

Then maybe you should redo your misleading comment because there is an ICU to control the controls but the actual controls within the signal path are analog.

Soooo... what am I getting here? A Topping A90 or a Topping A30 Pro? Could I buy this, proclaim I thought it as an A90, then sue them for false advertising and get a free A90?

Sound is a little too forward for my taste. Dynamics are punchy and effortless. Lots of detail without congesting complex parts of the music. If you like a forward slightly analytical presentation you will love this amp. I got it for use at work and I have it paired with my D50 and Focal Elegy cans. I built a super low noise power supply for it as opposed to buying the one they sell. Its a great amp just a little too forward for me.

Would this "appropriately" drive a Hifiman HE6v2? What is the power output at 50ohms on the balanced headphone out?

I’ve got the A30 Pro and the HE6SE V2 (Adorama version). I can get it painfully loud if needed; the amp puts out 3.4W at 50 ohms. Plenty unless you’re determined to go deaf.

rodizzleI've tested it with the he6se and it can get them loud enough with a Topping d10b DAC right up until you hit -4db preamp reduction to equalize them. At -6db like for an autoeq profile it runs out of volume on pre volume war recordings like the extended version of Tonight, tonight, tonight by Genesis and some Fleetwood Mac songs like The Chain.
The A90d has more power balanced to take it further.

Oooh a whole dollar. Just buy from apos. You pay like $760 for the bundle A/D30 pro stack plus a nice pair of xlr cables. Why would I buy from Drop?
