powerjacGuess I'm one of the lucky ones. Haven't had any issues with mine since I received it from the last drop. Sure, I'm not listening to it 24x7 but it's been great so far. *knock on wood*
Greg_Syeah used mine for months no problems (so far!). I think some have been made with faulty transistors or something.... china production at its riskiest
namhyungWe're not talking about random "complaints" here, when half of the units suffer from some problem or end up dead. It's a russian roulette and Topping just ignores this so far. So if someone is ready to take the risk of having to pay to ship this back to China, only to receive another potential bad unit, go on. The product is great when working correctly.
verifonixThe only deep concern I've had was once getting blasted by over volume. I believe it was because the DX3 Pro isn't idiot proof. It's a good idea to zero the volume if switching sources and between headphone mode and the maxed line out mode. I'm a noob but I've learned to pay close attention when making any changes with the potential to damage hearing. I see it mentioned about the unit outputting 10volts. That's something different than what I described. Are they saying that the DX3 Pro can suddenly output an uncontrolled damaging signal to the headphone which would also cause permanent hearing damage ? I was pissed when I got that blast to my ears but I'm pretty sure it was operator error and not a malfunction. Is there a danger that is beyond the control of the user? I'd like to hear from amirm regarding this. I see in the above provided link that amirm has addressed my question about the safety concern of headphone/hearing damage.
simonch“when half of the units suffer from some problem or end up dead”
What is the source of your statistics?
I should add I am a happy owner of a problem-free DX3 Pro.
simonchYou keep repeating the “statistic”that half of the units suffer problems or end up dead...
please provide the the source of your statistic.
I, for one, must be one of the lucky 50%, because I have a DX3PRO, have had no problems with it, and love it.
jsmiller58Here is Topping official statement. https://www.audiosciencereview.com/forum/index.php?threads/review-and-measurements-of-topping-dx3pro-dac-and-headphone-amp.4967/post-150957two posts below: If this is a design flaw or a large-scale manufacturing flaw, of course we must recall all units immediately. But from the quantity of defect report (you said that is 20+), I think this is a small probability event, this does not meet the conditions for all recalls because defect percentage is too low. What we should do now is find out the problem and provide solution to all users who met this problem.
They also confirmed if your seller don't want to take your unit back or give refund, you can contact them directly. They are very much going to deal with whatever problem.
verifonixThat certainly is far below the continuous quote from @simonch who claims “half of the units” have problems.
Thank you. There is a small but rabid group going after the DX3PRO... unknown why or the agenda. There are definitely people who have issues, I have no doubts about that. But the vitriol is far and beyond out of proportion to the number of issues and the cost of the unit... at least that is MY opinion. Others may look at it differently.
jsmiller58This is just sarcastic, of course its not half. I figured anyone would get this. But from forums for every user with no problem there's one w a problematic unit. And this is just from people taking time to actually find those forums and post something.
Yes Topping said they are looking into this, but you have to be ready to spend a lot of money to send it back to China, only to possibly get another one w the same problems. At least for me it would cost 60$ here.
Great for you if you didnt have problems, just stop looking for hidden agendas and conspiracies, there's none. Just a lot of unhappy buyers, makes you wonder what long term reliability will be with so many short terms issues.
simonchFirst of all, the vast majority of users who have an issue will come back here to post about it. Not just to warn others but also to look for a fix.
Secondly, the vast majority of users who have no issues will not come back here and post about it.
You have to take it as a grain of salt. Yes, the complaints will seem more common in this forum but there is a logical reason for it.
You don't do forum users any justice by flagrantly exaggerating the amount of faulty units. Infact, you are doing users a disservice by perpetuating false and misleading statements.
This product is made in China, most people know you take a risk buying from China but this risk is almost always offset by the savings you get compared to similar and usually more expensive products made in the USA or Germany for example.
I'm all for raising awareness about product issues but let's keep it as unbiased as possible so everyone benefits from more accurate information. Peace.
danielson99Sorry I'm not perpetuating anything, time passes and the units are still plagued but the same problems, mainly shutdowns and OPAs blowing up. I mean theres someone on his 3rd replacement...
I dont really care anymore, I just restart mine when it shutdowns but it wont be much of a surprise when it wont come back up.
