I ordered the 4pin balanced -> 2.5mm (L&R) for my HiFiMan He400i used with my Schiit Jotunheim fed by Bryston BCD1 + BDA1 combo. I listen to a wide variety of music genre and this cable isn't choosy over the types of music played.

Pros - Very light, solid construction, balanced transparent sound, natural sound, good highs, extended lows, excellent transmission. Better definition than a fullersounding KimberKable, very low burn in time. PRICE.
Cons - not a fan of the jacket although I understand it's function (flat braid, protection), not as full sounding as say a KimberKable but with better definition.
This cable is a no brainer if you want a cable with great performance in a good setup. Regardless of price.

Significant improvement to my Hifiman 4xx
It's now permanently attached to the Hifiman 4xx headphones. I recently did another round of switching and playing with different cables (got too many at home!), but at the end of the day, I end up preferring and coming back to the Venture. Possibly because it's balanced, and I'm comparing with single-ended for the others. The sound opens up and is more relaxed. I have it attached to Cavalli tube amp, driven by external DAC through USB from computer. Source music is HD flac or else Spotify.

I have to say I’m a little surprised at some of the reviews. I’m pretty happy with this cable. I ordered one for my HE 400i Though and not an Sen, so I can’t address the fit of 600 or 800 connectors. The 2.5s are fine. I’m not a huge believer in “magic cables” Frankly the only reason I replaced the stock cable was that it was too short for my purpose and I pulled my head amp off its stand turning my head. Yikes! This Venture cable is fine. I don’t notice that it changes the sound at all as compared to the stock cable. I also don’t find it microphonic though I’m not typically moving around while using this cable. I guess YMMV. It’s flexible, and it doesn’t get caught in my long curly hair. Hey, that’s import to me! Honestly I’d order it again.

I use the IEM cables instead of the HD6XX cable and I can say that I love these. Durable and the color is perfect for all of my iems. Good job!

From a product perspective, there a lots of little things wrong.
1. The HD6XX pins are not a good fit into the headphones. You either have to shove them in and risk damage to the pins or have them hang relatively loosely at risk of falling out. 2. The connector to the headphone unit is ridiculously long, around 3". Expect some poking into shoulders 3. The left and right portion of the cable are a few inches different. Its really obvious with the shorter cable. 4. Poor shielding.
Then there is the company itself. The company actively sensors and suppresses bad reviews. They also don't exactly have the best direct customer service. Massdrop will mitigate this a little, but I actively choose not to support this company anymore.

I have the HD800 to 4pin connector: After much pushing and pulling I finally got one of the plugs seated... it seemed to be just ever so slightly larger then it should have been, honestly I feel bad for buying these... the cable is just too short for my liking. I do like the feel of it though and once everything was plugged in it worked just as good as any other cable. Also on the 4 pin connector, one pin looked bent, but it still fits fine. I am worried about taking out the connector it is in there pretty snug, hopefully it won't damage the HD800 when I try and swap cables.

After spending time with these for a couple of weeks now I am even more disappointed. Well they do work but they feel so cheap. Nothing to them. The material is attractive but you can feel the wire inside the nylon material is extremely thin. Not worth more than $20 if that. Very disappointed in Massdrop for offering such cheap cables at a price that was more than three times what they are actually worth. Massdrop please stop sellling such cheaply made products

I'll echo all the other bad reviews. The cable is VERY microphonic. If you move, you WILL hear it. Cable is very stiff, very heavy and the connectors fit VERY tightly in the headphone. Be ready to worry about breaking your headphones while connecting the cable. I regret buying these, and am replacing with recabled Sennheiser cables. Compared to the stock Sennheiser cables, these are absolute garbage.

Edit: If there was a way to rate Massdrop Support, they would get 5 stars. Massdrop have since issued a refund.

Complete trash!!! If i could rate this lower I would because they are not fit for purpose. Not sure what batch everyone got last drop, but for future potential buyers, steer clear from these. Unless you plan to damage your headphones, I would not bother. I got these with the XLR end for my Jotunheim and I am very, very disappointed that these could be passed off as compatible cables. Stock on the left, Venture on the right. The Venture barely registered a connection and unless I decide to jam these in and risk potentially damaging my brand new HD 6XX's..... forget it! The pins aren't the issue, the issue is the connector when going into the housing. Yes some force should be needed as the stock require a little force. You shouldn't feel like you need to jam these in. If anyone else got these they should refund these ASAP.

All the other negative reviews on these cables are right. Its serviceable but if your paying even 30$ for a cable, it better be perfect. Look elsewhere, there is much better for your money out there.
