Cheap, powerful and detailed; a great intro to tubes.
First of all, I haven't had much experience with the main, well-established tube options, but from what I have heard I would definitely recommend the TA-05 - especially when it's so cheap. The sound is noticeably clearer than other cheap amps (e.g. Objective O2; Liquid Spark; maybe even the Atom) and it provides TONS of power to just about everything I could throw at it.
This next pro might sound a bit strange but I feel it's worth mentioning anyway: the internal PSU that lets you just plug in a regular IEC cable without any adapters or transformers is a great quality of life feature and I would love for other amps to include this. Lastly, the inclusion of of an AUX switch and jack for two separate sources is just nice; really makes setting up audio for a computer or console or whatever else you want to plug in so much easier.
So in the end, would I recommend this over similarly priced option? Definitely, it's a hybrid amp with a clear and detailed sound signature, sexy looks and all the power you could ever need. If this is your budget, then this is your amp.
I pretty much enjoy the sound coming of this, I totally need to get a better dac tho, thinking of smsl 10th... anyways while listening from my xduoo x10 to 24/192 vinyl rips it sounds really good! dont expect full, lamp driven amp, its only the preamplification run on theese to give you the nice warmth, the main amplification is done with transistors. On v-moda m100 (32ohms) The volume knob stays in lower 1/4, I dont think you would need more than a half volume for 600ohm headphones tho... 700mW is extremely powerfull. For 80usd discounted, I couldnt ask for more!
If you can, get youself one of theese, just avoid these with non liner power supplies (the big box on back = good)
Fantastic sound and great introduction to tube amps
Didn’t know what to expect and bought it because I wanted to experience tube amp sound for a low price. I also got the 6XX headphones as I needed passive rather than the two Bluetooth and noise cancelling over ear I have.
Connected this to my old Rotel amp Using tape out so I didn’t need to unplug any others and would work across all channels.
I'm not a professional at describing the sound but will say that there is a little difference between headphones directly into headphone jack on Rotel amp and this TA-05, it sounds nicer. I don’t know how to explain “nicer” but I prefer my music from this tube amp.
Hope this helps and for the price it’s a little gem.
