No way M50/M40 sound-alikes. Much flatter - less crispy, no mid-bass bloat, not dipped in mids. Slight apparent recess somewhere around 3-4khz. That combination results in a warmer and less "snappy" sound than something like the M50, etc. While some might wish for more upper mid definition, it also results in one of the more acoustically trustworthy 'phones for mixing and reasonably accurate monitoring. Depending on preferences, pleasant but not exciting for general listening.

Anyone would like to share how they sound compared to SRH440/840 and/or M40x, K553?

Massdrop why can't you even get the listing correct? Yet you have time to send me so many emails regarding new products. Honestly get your priorities right pls.

joelcweHonestly mate, I don't think it will matter but thank you! I get so much crap from them in my email, yet they cannot fix a small listing issue.

I can't believe Massdrop still hasn't clarified the self-contradictory description & specs. The description still says that the 3.9 ft coiled cable comes only with the MT8, while the specs still say that the 3.9 ft coiled cable comes only with the MT5. Which is it? Pick one. People were asking this question 14 weeks ago. Now this drops again and the description is *still* ambiguous?

Okay so Massdrop kinda messed up here. They said that a 3.9 ft coiled cable comes with the MT5. I just received my headphones today. The HPH-MT5 only comes with ONE STRAIGHT CABLE. It DOES NOT COME WITH A COILED CABLE. Im not too worried because I dislike coiled cables anyway but for those who ordered this might be disappointing.

Dan777That doesn't sound right, you should have received a 3.9 ft coiled cable. If you submit a ticket to our support team through your transaction page we'd love to look into it! (https://www.massdrop.com/transactions)

Bekah.MThanks for the tip, I have placed a support ticket. I do not believe the product was ever intended to include a coiled cable, judging from the packaging itself.

Okay MD, we need some clarity. Under the description it says, "Both have a 3-meter straight cable, and the MT8 also comes with an additional 1.2-meter coiled cable." Then under SPECS, under Included it says: • 3.9 ft (1.2 m) coiled cable (with HPH-MT5 only) Which is it?
