I just got these, if I only have around 200$ more to spend, should I go for a dac/amp combo like jds atom and ol dac or spend all the money on a better dac?

Even better.... put on some Sheepskin Audeze pads from AHG since I didn't have Dekonis and these are much cheaper... fucking perfect! Fix the seal issue, so comfortable, keep the sound profile and enhance bass... winning all around I love these.

Where are you from? Who knows maybe I won't like these at all and would be willing to sell them down the road so if they don't come back there could still be options ;)
But I mean... I do own a lot of headsets... kind of an unhealthy, expensive addiction so don't bank on me selling them lol.

Hi! Is A1000Z any good of upgrade compared to M50x? My main concern is that lots of reviewers noted that sub-bass/bass is their weak-point and im wondering if that is affecting the quantity/quality of bass-heavy tracks such as Hip-Hop/EDM? At the price of 250$ they seem like a good deal anyway, just wondering if they are capable of doing that low frequency massage to ears when the track calls for that...

Hi! I need help. Is there any difference between ath a2000z and ath W5000?
Two days ago I ordered Ath W5000 for 550$. Maybe I should order ath A2000z for 400$ and cancel the W5000?

I haven't heard W5000 but there will be definitely a quite audible difference, since different materials are used and also (and here I can only speculate) I guess Audio-Technica tuned these differently. Now which is to be preferred and why - I can't tell, of course - only someone that had experienced both can give you a better clue.
For me both models are crazy beautiful but I still prefer the wood on W5000 leaving the sound aside. On the other hand W5000 is quite an old model... so there is that :) I can't help you much in choosing, I guess :) :) :) but I just like talking about these headphones...

This is an amazing deal, if I didn't have so many cans at home I would be more tempted. Man this is a straight forward deal though if you enjoy closed back headphones this is a very strong deal.

Alan_GTrue. I have both 1000Z and 2000Z then I also have Focal Elegia and Ether C Flow to compare. While the sound of the Focals and Ethers is arguably better don't forget that they cost 2-3 times more that even the 2000Z and what is MOST IMPORTANT for me Audio-Technica's headphones are feather light... they are essentially weightless on my head (YMMV, of course)... that's why I must admit I'm mostly using them for daily "casual listening" even though I have these other bigger and better closed backs

Anyone could give me reasons to get a2000z while having a1000z? Is there a chance that I could keep both if I really like female vocals and I'm not interested in other brands? Anyone can tell me if they use a1000z for some music and a2000z with other without feeling that they are TOOOOOOOO similar to make them think that you only can keep one? I want to have the a2000z as one more for the AT collection I have(AD2000X,AD900X,1000Z) , but I would like to have them as a pair I could use without feeling that it is almost the same than a1000z and while also having good female vocals and highs: add something to the collection I have without thinking that they are too similar

They sound different, quite different. 2000Z is more "resolving" and with more "forward" female vocals while 1000Z is probably a bit "veiled" in comparison which, however, is not a bad thing per se and also feels a bit more "bassy" (as a quantity, not quality). I love them both but I first got the 2000Z and used it almost daily for more than a year then I come by a good deal on 1000Z so I decided I MUST have it too :)
For the money you're paying here both are essentially a steal :)

i've been really wanting a pair of good closed-back headphones that aren't upwards of $800 to wear when my girlfriend is asleep and can't wear my open-backs... Is this as good as it is going to get? (i'm looking at the a1000zs). Hate the non-removable cable but love the price.

Well, I haven't tried neither Monolith nor Beyerdynamic models you mention (let alone modded Monolith) BUT a few point to consider here:
1) DT770 is a studio monitor, i.e., would aim for flat response so probably won't be fun for metal, as well.
2) DT770 is a lower tier headphone (relatively cheap studio monitor) whereas M1060 is Audiophile grade (I think) so you'd essentially be downgrading... and probably won't going to like it... at least not initially.
3) Planar drivers are known to respond very well to EQ and are also famous for their "planar bass" so have you tried to adjust the frequency response of your source a bit - raise some frequency bands that your style of metal favors? You know that this is what Audeze basically does with its portable/in-ear planars - applies heavy EQ through a DSP located in the iPhone cable or the Bluetooh module used to connect the earpieces.
