Just to share a few years later. I totally forgot about this until I checked my history but I purchased one of these years ago and the unit I received was defective, didn't work at all. Had to dig through the dumpster for the packaging to send it back to AE. I received a second unit from them, work a week then stopped working all together again. I finally just gave up because I was tired of having to beg for a working unit and them making me feel like it was my fault. Don't buy this DAC, there is better cheaper options on the market.

If you are talking about the one that happened 2 months ago, I believe it failed. Massdrop isn't able to give discounts on AudioEngine anymore, so they tried to implement a credit system. People didn't like the alternative.

Waited for almost half a year for this drop to happen again, but after the whole A5+ drop with massdrop credit I just went and bought a D1 direct from audioengine instead. lol
