I'm the Engineer who designed this, I'll try coming here often over the course of the the drop if anybody has interrogations about it.

OK from what you said the output impedance of the amp 1 ohm. Good! So according to the 1/8 rule, any headphone 8 ohms impedance or better should work reasonably well. Thus I am confused that you include and Impedance Adapter "designed for use with very sensitive headphones such as IEMs (in-ear monitors)." What impedance IEM's did you have in mind? So:
  1. Below what headphone impedance should I use the "Impedance Adapter"
  2. I have a pair of expensive 22 ohm headphones
  3. And I have a pair of expensive 35 ohm headphones
  4. Finally, out of curiously what is the hole beside the LED for?
Thanks!
AlanDixonThe hole next to the LED is the microphone opening!

It is very good to know that the company is not from China or Korea which are technology stealing/cloning. But I’ll wait for a BT 5.0 supporting one that I am a Iphone X user.

Read again, it’s not about where it’s been made. It’s about origin. Sorry if it hurts but my comments are facts!

Almost joined this drop, but I cruised Amazon first. The earstudio doesnt look as nice but it's 100X the device. dac is great (!) And the amp drives everything from my KZ S26 to the HE 4XX. Nicely. This could have replaced my Bifrost and Valhalla 2. Buy of the decade, guyz. Real deal.

I meant in no way to disparage your device -- I'd love to own one -- I just found this in the process of looking for yours. I wanted to crow about it's greatness, and look forward to owning The Get so I can do the same about it. Thanks for noticing and replying.
PaintcanwolfI have a GET, and saw but haven’t tried the Earstudio. The GET is very good, so it would be hard to justify saying the Earstudio could be 100x the device. The GET was an easily noticeable improvement over the Creative E3, and even a bit nicer than the E5 in a much smaller (and less expensive) package, which really impressed me. I also have many other DAC amps (I also have a Bifrost Uber! And Mojo, and Sennheiser HDV 820, and more), and I would make the same assertion about the GET that Paintcanwolf made about the Earstudio: https://www.massdrop.com/buy/bluewave-get-wireless-dac-amp/talk/2167272 It seems the GET and Earstudio are both currently the highlight devices for small, affordable, great sounding portable Bluetooth receivers. From what I’ve read (and heard from a friend that has both), the Earstudio has a quieter background noise for really sensitive IEMs, while the GET produces more power and is better suited if you want to use fullsized headphones. The range of Bluetooth 5 with my iPhone 8+ (which also has BT 5) is superThose are measurable differences. Personally, most of my headphones are fullsized, and the GET does a good job for music even against $100 wired setups. HD 650, HD 58X, HD 599, PXC 480, K712, K612, TH-X00, all of these sounded better than what I had come to expect from the ~$100 price point. The GET wasn’t quite enough on its own to supply a Fostex T50RP, but even so it did power that infamously hungry headphone better than my old iPhone 6S. Objectively, I feel the GET has some musicality “magic” compared to the sometimes flat and dull sound from my older budget amp/DACs.

So how is this a group deal? MSRP for the Bluewave GET is $99 (per IGG page), and this has been selling manufacturer-direct for $99 the past few months (was recently raised to $130).
Been comparing Bluetooth DAC/Amps for a while, and from what I've narrowed my selection down to, the EarStudio ES100 has the best sound quality and battery life, but poorest materials and build quality; the FiiO BTR1 is the cheapest with good build (and will soon be replaced by the BTR3); the Astell & Kern XB10 seems to fall somewhere between those two, but has the poorest battery life; and the Bluewave GET has the most power output and a nice design, but is very noisy with many earphones and has/had a dangerously loose volume wheel.
Was also really interested in a few of Audio-Technica's models, but their North American branch can't be bothered to release any of them domestically. Still not sure what to get, but I keep leaning toward the ES100, though I might wait to see what the BTR3 brings when it's released this summer.
AFD_0Own the ES100 and have zero complaints, haven't used it to drive full sized HP's but the IE800 and RE-00 sound much better than expected over bluetooth. My phone is aptX HD enabled so keep that in mind. I agree the "build feel" is lacking but the performance is definitely worth the $99 entry.

AFD_0Yup! I have the AT, the ES100, and the GET. AT had the only real product on the market for years, which is why I bought it back in 2015. Totally agree that the ear studio sounds the best- I think it's built better than the AT, but nowhere near as well as the GET. The GET didn't work for me at all and I had to send it back. I think they have a low gain version now which solves many of the problems I was having (lots of noise, extremely limited adjustment on the volume pot), but the ear studio is what I really needed. I do wish the electronics from the ES100 were in the GET's form factor though!

Glad MD has some products that are from US/Canada, fully support those companies. Also, from Japan and Europe. I never buy anything from any chinese companies which btw is littered in MDs site.

The wall will need to have large tunnels for land migratory wildlife, like caribou, wolves, and snowbirds. We'd put up signs politely requesting bad people to please not use those tunnels, and thank you.

flyin2flyoutWe don't need any damn migratory wildlife coming down here to steal our jobs and rape our snowbirds! Over the years, America has made many bad deals with caribou and wolves--very unfair to us. SAD!

I have two bluewave units and one earstudio unit..... if you use either as you described without an app then you would think both are just bluetooth receivers for your headphones... but if you actually download the app for the earstudio then you will see that the bluewave does not have these options ( might be import to some that have a good set of IEM's or Headphones... depends if you like your music sounding great or just ??? ) The App settings of an earstudio is below.... and you are correct in that the bluewave only has the volume knob for its app settings... 1) Analog Volume control 2) Source Volume control 3) Input control for SE or Balanced modes 4) codec/bit sample control 5) battery display 6) L/R channel control 7) max volume control 8) Current Mode to output as preamp or headphone amp (have used the preamp mode on my WOO amps) 9) full equalizer control with 12 presets and 4 user custom presets 10) Full control of equalizer offsets (-6db /-12db) so you don't overdrive the amp stage 11) Distinctive Clear Technology (DCT) to eliminate digital noise 12) Headphone Crossfeed adjustment 13) 4 different DAC filters 14) DAC oversampling rate adjustment for clock jitter and power ripple issues 15) Ambient Sound adjustment for built-in mic 16) music only or ambient mic output volume control.. 17) mic volume control... The ambient built in mic is great if you use custom in ear monitors... that way if some one comes up and starts talking to you you can just adjust the mic and talk normally to the person... otherwise you have to pry out the IEM's.... some are very difficult to remove due to the custom build ...sometimes they feel like they are stuck... I let the kids use the Bluewave and I use the earstudio with my custom gear... I know which one is better.. and again... I am not saying the bluewave does not work.. its just that the designers originally said they had the hardware complete and was working on a APP to finish the bluewave package.... then they said they didn't have time to finish the app and it wasn't coming... so to me that says... if you buy a bluewave then your getting a unfinished product.... enjoy.. and best of luck

OK, please pardon my ignorance. I must be missing something, or not fully understanding what I’m looking at. I just don’t think I’ve ever seen a DAC marketed to audiophiles (even audiophiles on a budget) to not have this capability. But looking at the list of supported formats, it seems rather small. Specifically, no FLAC? This can’t be right. Again, I must be missing something.

Thanks for the explanation. That makes total sense. And i learned something today, which I always value, so thanks for that. I’m now wondering if it is DAP specs I’m thinking of, when I refer to seeing FLAC listed as a supported format. i think they may be the case to some exemt, but I’m fairly sure I’ve seen it in DAC info as well.
ShartitoYes, well DAPs (not DACs) can have the music files stored internally, and they decode FLAC to PCM before sending the information along the audio chain. At the end of the day, this has a lot of sound quality to offer at this price. These days, I’m usually using the Sony ZX300 Walkman instead because it has a Bluetooth receiving feature, but the GET is much less expensive and smaller sized.

I bought one of these at CanJam NYC in January because I was quite impressed with it. Here are a couple impressions that might be of interest.
1) Its one of the least finicky bluetooth devices I've ever used. It connects to my iPhone as soon as it turns on. Never had to re-pair the with a device or anything. Perhaps thats a feature of the bluetooth 5 chip.
2) It has the most listenable bluetooth quality for a portable device I've heard in a while. I was surprised enough to ask the creator what kind of dac/amp chip was used inside it. He said it was just a bluetooth 5 chip and a battery. Its good enough that I've turned it into my go-to portable solution with IEMs when I'm on the move.
3) Its quite powerful for the size, but I wouldn't use it with anything over 100ohms. Yes, it will power the HD6XX at full volume, but its not a very adequate solution. I would recommend this device for any pair of cans/IEMs that are made to be portable and don't require an external amp to power.
4) With very sensitive IEMs, the noise floor is quite loud. You can get an impedance adapter from Bluewave, but it only cuts about 75% of the noise. I pair it with the iFi Match to eliminate the noise when using IEMs.
Conclusion: Not a gimmick. Great little device.

rumata13Everything is relative I guess "Lots" I only see 3 reviews under 3 stars out of 5... Keep in minds there are thousands of happy users out there, Also, I do know that Amazon blocked the reviews for this product, for some reason I was being under some kind of audit, many happy customers reported to me not being allowed to post reviews on Amazon. Amazon have this power to push or discard a particular brand or company, this is how it is... Also keep in mind that unhappy customers are way more likely to be vocal about it. This is human nature, we like to complain, If we are satisfy we don't feel the need to make effort telling the world about it, but if we have a gripe it's easy to jump on a keyboard and share it, especially since it's anonymous.
