@CEntrance_Dave @CEntrance really disappointed with your support and a warning to all this doesn't have any warranty.
i received a faulty device contacted massdrop was offered refund as @CEntrance doesn't have warranty on this custom item.
emailed @CEntrance no reply till date.

Let us know what happened and we will help. I'm sorry to hear that someone wrote 12 paragraphs to you. They are likely a CEntrance supporter, like many others, but I'm pretty sure they don't work for us. We are a small shop and just don't have that kind of time on our hands :)
By the way, the latest Windows 10 audio drivers are pretty good and a dedicated CEntrance driver is no longer required.

I'm actually curious about the noise floor on the Slim. I had the DACport HD once, and my issue was that the noise floor for IEMs was a bit high. It was audible on the ER4PT and ATH-IM02, for example. Is the DACport Slim any better in that regard?

Nah, the only thing that will damage them realistically is too much volume.

Um, I bought this thinking I could use it with my Onkyo DP-X1A. It just makes a ticking sound when connected. Am I doing something wrong? it does work great with my Samsung Note 5 phone. Just wow.

Maybe it's the relative increase in capacity from the size of a tablet's battery? Still, seems like too much for the phones.
I've always had bad luck with those powered Y OTG cables. With my last attempt it seemed to either power the OTG device and not allow data, or allow data when the power is disconnected. Kinda pointless.

wolfinThe Galaxy S2 is simply built differently or has better firmware. The CEntrance pulls about 0.25 amps from any power source.
With the Note 5 connected to my Y cable the amps pulled from the external power supply drops to 0.13 because some power is still being taken from the Note 5.
In contrast, when i connect the Galaxy S2 Tablet there is a 0.01 increase in amps being pulled from the external power supply. No power draw from Tablet?

My past experience with 3 other drops is that your company builds some fantastic gear but your delivery timeframe and shipping tend to be WAY OFF

Then why not a loaner? If you're afraid of bias, I asked for a loaner instead of a sample. They didn't even want to go that route. I just don't feel like writing a review longer than my research papers if it's after I already buy the product.
And I've seen great (and accurate) reviews done through samples. Not everybody is a sleazy liar. Perhaps you could look into the track record of the reviewer, just as CEntrance used their own track record to gain trust.

I have a Schiit Fulla. It's garbage. Regardless of how good the sound quality is, it picks up every electronic signal within 10 feet and is constantly glitching, crackling, full of usb noise and nearby transmissions. The volume knob is scratchy and horrible. The aluminum casing is sharp and cheap. I simply want to stop dealing with that. If I replace it with the CEntrance DACport Slim, am I getting equal to or better sound quality, without the QC issues, or taking a step down?

The default firmware is 026.
You can request for a beta firmware 029 which fixed sleep issues on Windows 10.
If you are not using Win10, then I would recommend to wait for official firmware release.
If you do get the firmware, it is an exe file.
You run it while dacport slim is connected.
Once it.complete, unplug the dacport slim and connect back.
You should not have any issue with dacport slim after that.

Will the DACport Slim be any good for driving the Fostex TH-X00 headphones? I joined the drop yesterday and am thinking of getting a DAC as well, preferably a portable one. The headphones has kinda low impedance (25 ohms). I have an iPhone 6S if that matters at all.

Without a doubt you will find people who could not tell the difference between sound cards. But some people do hear the difference and this product is for them ;)
Consider that you will always find people who cannot tell the difference between a nice car and a cheap one, a tasty meal and junk food, a good book and a trash novel. In each of those cases you can argue either for sophisticated, developed taste or the placebo effect. With thousands of products sold, hundreds of positive reviews, and having been featured on the cover of Stereophile twice, we certainly don't believe our products offer placebo effect.

I showed my friend my TH-X00 and he said it sounded the same as free oem white earbuds. I let him sit in my $200 Ikea chair and he said it was as comfortable as his $50 Office Depot chair. He said mouse isn't more accurate than a controller and that 60fps doesn't matter. My friend is wrong in a lot of ways now that I think about it.

Im just going to be honest here dont buy this. Buy the SMSL Idea usb dac/headphone amp. Its cheaper plays up to 512 dsd, is smaller and sounds way better than the dacport. I own both of them. The only thing better about the dacport is it has a more powerful amp but the smsl idea drives all my headphones without issue and i have several planar headphones that can be harder to drive and it drives them fine.
So i would say get the SMSL its cheaper better sound quality and you can play any file you want. I would only ever recommend the dacport if your really worried about some particularly harder to drive headphones. Just my two cents to save my fellow audiphiles some money and get better sound quality. Peace out!

Audiophile community should stand up for each other. It is highly unethical of CEntrance to leave around 900 contributors(product on Indiegogo) in limbo and move on to something new. They just moved to Massdrop as there was lot of negativity on Indiegogo. The so called powerful version of DACport could find only 80 backers in more than a month. A time sensitive device which was promised to ship in April 2015 is not ready and they are not even sure when it will be ready. It was supposed to ship in April and they are saying the parts are ready to be assembled now and blaming Apple for delay. How can you trust a company like this? Mind boggling fact is that there was not even one mention of delay on Hifi Skyn page as they continued to string us along week by week pretending we’re almost there but they found the courage to announce on this forum that the project is delayed.

What are people talking about when they mention the low sound floor making hissing noises? Shouldn't this dac/amp be able to drive highly-sensitive IEMs well because of its low output impedance (1 ohm)?

I guarantee you zero people are lowering the PC level volume, lol. That's a great way to twist his question.
These people are experiencing audible noise floor when the source is maxed, because the noisefloor is noticeable with super sensitive equipment. Please don't give out answers where you create assumed/false contest.

Theoretically, there is always a noise floor present, no matter what equipment you talk about -- ours, or someone else's. In practice, whether you hear this noise floor or not depends on a lot of things, such as your headphones (balanced armatures are most sensitive, overheads are not as bad), the amount of background noise (a quiet room will be most revealing, a moving train, the least) and any background noise in the recording itself. Some recordings have a surprising amount of background noise heard during quiet passages. When you hit "pause", the noise from the recording disappears and at that point you may or may not hear the noise generated in your equipment.
While we go to great lengths to minimize the residual noise in our products, it's up to the people to say whether they hear it or not. As you noticed, I'm not influencing that argument. But correct gain structure is always important, no matter whose gear you use. This equally applies to our competitors. Sadly, based on the amount of calls and emails we take on the subject, correct gain structure is not obvious to everyone and as evidenced by Papieur's comment, my explanation was useful to him. Yes, unfortunately, we see people mess up gain structures, unknowingly, quite often. And then they complain about too much noise and when we explain the procedure, they thank us.
And to your point -- even though I myself know the "correct procedure" I actually use the PC volume fader sometimes when I can't reach for the DACport's volume control knob (it's somewhat out of reach on my desk). I know it's not ideal, but sometimes its just more convenient, because the mouse is already in my hand and I just need to bring the volume down because the phone rang, or something. The important thing is to know what's correct in theory, then you decide for yourself what you do in practice, based on the circumstances.
Now that the theory is out of the way, you can share if you heard the background noise, what headphones you used, other conditions, etc. I'm sure it will be useful to people.
