Hey all, It's Julie from iFi again. I dropped some info over on the ZEN DAC signature product page and thought would be good to share this compatibility chart here for the ZEN CAN Signature 6XX. Also, if youd like to check out the following thread, we are sharing the fuller indepth tech there: https://www.head-fi.org/threads/ifi-audio-zen-can-signature-6xx-zen-dac-signature.936743/post-15742054

Rkiwiits an ordinary adapter that cost like $2-$5 at pretty much any store u walk into. It’s not a specialist item like you’re describing it to be.

Hi all, we just wanted to share more info on the two products. Whilst they are not mutually exclusive and can certainly work standalone- the best set up to drive your HD 6XX is to have both. Let us explain why: THE ENDGAME SET UP- ZEN DAC Signature + ZEN Can Signature 6XX + Drop HD 6XX
(TL;DR)  Your Sennheiser HD6XX headphones give you a smooth, laid-back presentation. Its neutral response provides a pleasant listening experience with any music genre. Though connecting to a laptop or average digital converter/headphone amplifier will always mean the last 20-30% of the full potential is not fully realised.

The 'endgame' solution is the iFi dedicated ZEN DAC Signature and ZEN CAN Signature 6XX. These premium versions of the ZEN series were uniquely developed for Drop customers.

This magical combination means Drop HD 6XX* enjoyment is ‘turbocharged’ to eleven:

  • ZEN DAC Signature gives far superior music enjoyment from TIDAL Masters to Spotify. Instead of average audio quality in your phone, tablet or laptop you get music quality that befits the best setups. Built with the best components such as Sanyo OSCONs, it is a premium version of our ZEN DAC
  • ZEN CAN Signature 6XX is the only one on the market with dedicated equalisation and 15v@300 Ohms output power. Both of which are a bit special. All underpinned by boutique components such as Elna Silmics II.

Before, your HD6XX sounded a bit like using a Mini to pull an Airstream.

You are moving, but always wishing if you could ‘floor it?’
With the iFi combo, as the saying goes, ‘there is no replacement for displacement’ so the ZEN DAC Signature and the ZEN CAN Signature give you turbocharged sound quality AND oomph to properly drive your Sennheiser HD6XX.

When you ‘drive’ your Sennheiser HD6XX with the premium DAC & CAN Signatures, the full potential will be realised. We are talking 15v at 300 Ohms which gives the poise and power not found anywhere else.       *Please see Compatibility chart to check other models.

Hope this helps, as always any questions please!

I actually was able to pick up the Signature stack for $170 each on ebay costing $340 which I find more reasonable. already owning the regular IFI Zen Can and Dac stack, I was able to compare the sound difference. After going back and forth with both stacks, I must say the Signature Can does sound much better then the regular Can. I can hear the sound is fuller and brighter on the Signature stack and the bass is also more pronounced. I needed to have bass boost on all the time on the original Zen Can, to get what is the normal sound of the Signature Can, which offered a richer fuller sound. I actually shipped back the normal IFI Zen Can/Amp back.

Is it safe to use the single ended input with a Chromecast? Also, could I use the 4.4 Balanced output to my power amp (with the right adaptor cable)?

Thanks. I plan to use the 4.4 out to an old 90s amp so I don't have to manually change it's input between my Chromecast and my CD player. The ifi will just be a pre amp unless I want to use only headphones

jyeoSounds like a good idea. In that case, that particular iFi Balanced Adapter would work for you... in conjunction with a male 3.5mm (1/8" stereo phono jack) to RCA cable of your choice. Unlike other similar adapters, I can confirm that it works perfectly. It's T-shaped and is available on Amazon and other audio-centric webstores. All the best.

How does this 6XX activeEQ sound with Sennheiser’s 660s cans? Anybody wish to share from experience or geek on analysis?
It’s back, I didn’t know if it would be! I just did a review of the new entry-level ZEN Air line of products on my YouTube ( https://youtu.be/6dpOmYlKtaI ), it would be cool to see how the upgrade model sounds, especially since it was tailor made for the HD 6XX (I also have the HD 8xx… and I might like it even more with that).

Hi, I need your answer Guys, Ifi Zen Can to X7s , sidegrade, Upgrade or Downgrade? need your opinion
BibitSurawanX7 by Creative, or who? Based on my experience… I really like the X7’s DSP, so I would want that, plus the X7 has more digital input options (USB, optical, Bluetooth, smartphone host USB), but I like the ZEN Can’s amp better (none of the stridency prevalent in many of Creative’s amps, better fit with high end headphones that walk the edge of high detail/fatigue) so I would want that too for amping.

Is the included power adapter really the bougie white iPower X or the more modest black iPower 2?

Left-Coast-DJIt's the iPower2 I see on the photos and that makes more sense considering the cost of the iPowerX. That being said the iPower2 does a very decent job with this amp, the iPowerX imho would be overkill.

I have a Topping A30 / Radsone ES100 setup right now. Looking to kick it up a bit. Headphones are HD6XX & Meze 99 Classics. Struggling to decide between this iFi Signature Can (and a Zen DAC) or a Schiit Modi / Magni stack. Please give me reason.
Left-Coast-DJI just tested out the ZEN Air line at home for 4 weeks, and I’ve heard the first two generations of Magni/Modi a fair amount and demo’d the Magni3 once, so I’m not 100% sure my impressions will be exactly applicable. However, I typically find Schiit amps to be on the dryer, brighter, side of things. It’s not that they are adding any kind of EQ, it’s just that they are a little bit more analytical. I could be great sometimes, and it might be a good with the HD 6XX if the upper mids, like female vocals, don’t ever seem a bit much or on the edge of being harsh to you. The Schiit stack is popular for a reason. Very similar observations apply to the few Topping product I have heard, to a even stronger degree, though one Topping sounded outright weird and detrimental… though their stuff is also popular and I haven’t heard their best efforts yet. On the other hand, even the humble Zen air CAN plus Zen air DAC provided an experience that was smooth and musical. Even with my HD 8XX, I did not sense the strain on my ears, no signs of problems. I did not expect to enjoy the xBass and X space features to be as fun as they turned out to be, but they added to the whole musical enjoyment for me. As far as a con, the entry-level iFi product may not have had the most hard and defined edges to every note, but it did not seem dull or lacking in detail (I have found the Asgard to dull the sound of TOTL headphones). I do enjoy the benefits of my higher end Cavalli and Sennheiser deck amp gear, but I could not ignore the walk away impression that I was having a satisfactory and good time listening to $1000 headphone with $100 front end gear, with the iFi, where the schiit audio gear even up to the Jotunheim 1 have added a harshness that is unpleasant after a moderate amount of time with the HD 800 and 8XX (I do like the Schiit audio staff and mission very much, so I always root for them with each release, and new gear may be better).
