Can anyone comment on the microphone call quality on these? I want to use them in an office with minimal background noise and most reviews seem to be focused on noise canceling. I want to be extremely clear and not muffled.

Thanks man I appreciate the info.
I have the wired version (PXC480) and I agree with all your observations. Well said! I will add that the microphones are Beamforming and do a good job of making your voice louder than the environment. Bluetooth isn’t as clear as a wired connection, but I also have a pair of Sennheiser Bluetooth IEMs (the neckband-style Momentum’s), and it’s so good that most people on calls say they can’t tell the difference from when I’m talking directly into my phone’s microphone... IMO that’s high praise! Clamp is snug, the headphones won’t wiggle around or fall off while walking or jogging, but they’re not vise-like tight. I wouldn’t say you will “forget they’re there,” but they don’t make you sore either... I think the plush, squishy pads help this, and the headband is a bit more padded than average. The headband isn’t particularly wide, but like all headbands they will mat down a section of hair if you wear any high-volume hairstyles.

I can't believe it is only sold 7 pairs so far. PXC 550-II is one of the best wireless headphone you can find in the market. It is often compared with Sony XM3 and it has some features you can't find Bose or Sony.
  1. It works as wired. If you sit at your computer for a long time, you know how annoying when you can't use your headphone while it is charging.
  2. Better MIC. Compare to XM3, it has a way better microphone than XM3. This supposed to work as a travel headphone. Better MIC is something you should consider.
  3. $250 + 2500 points + full warranty is just crazy value. It is a BARGAIN.
It has great sound, very comfortable, good noise cancelling, nice control with transparent mode and 20 to 30 hours battery time.. Watch some reviews: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2TlsQmf7XtQ - Jimmy https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=063PaoI5VFk - Mike O'Brien This one is so under-advertised and it is lucky you found this deal IMO. Hey, I already placed my order. Good luck find a better deal if you miss this. 8 days left.

SangHaNo these don’t really work over wired. They require the DSP to sound right. Whatever analog you feed into it they internally convert back to digital run through DSP and come out back as analog. You are not really saving battery when running wired. these can run completely passive only when the battery is completely drained. And that mode sounds like absolute crap.

iucoenWell, I'm using it wired through Micro-USB both input and output. It works differently with Stereo cable though if it is what you mean. You can connect with Stereo jack for listening but MIC doesn't work through Stereo. It charges the battery too. It is connected with my laptop and I use it all the time for Zoom calls and Gaming calls with my friends.

How are these compared to the PC38x?
Also, how’s the headphone Jack on those Kantos TUK? I’m not familiar with the AMT technology used for the drivers, are they like a Planar Magnetic/Planar leaf driver? My Chane bookshelf speakers use planar leaf tweeters, and I love them. I think it’s interesting the Amazon product images show them hooking it up to a Focal Elear ($1k headphone).

EvshrugI will say that the headphone jack on them is pretty good. I have a built in HifI solution built into my X570 Aorus master that boosts the volume on the PC38x by about 20%. When plugged directly into the Kanto's it seems it boosts the PC38x by another 20%. The PC38x sounds much much louder connected to the Tuks. I would never use the PC38x on the Tuks though. It's just too much volume. I feel it would damage them over time. Neat that you meantioned the Chane speakers. I was going to buy 3 A2.4s for my setup but decided to go with the Tuks to cut out the 3rd center channel and a stand alone AMP/Receiver. This is all on my desk after all.

LFaWolfI guess Drop thinks that giving you lots of "points" and a "full warranty" (i.e. absolutely nothing) is better than saving you money.

LFaWolf Not anymore, it’s $100 more on Amazon now, so big savings of $100 on Drop plus $25 in Drop credit.

Anzialas if they would do that, I'm sure they're hoping to get a few extra purchases by poor saps that think they will get 1000 points for buying these headphones.

Weird, I litterally just saw these same headphones for $170.00 on Amazon, with next day shipping. So why on spherical earth would anyone pay $200 more, and wait til the middle of August to get them? I mean, really, how high is everybody at Drop? They must be super baked to think someone with more than 2 brain cells would even consider to purchase headphones at such a ridiculously marked up price. You all need to lay off that Master Kush for a bit, and let your senses get back to normality. Jeesh.

I’m wondering how the noise canceling works on these, for instance could I be having a conversation with someone and then if a loud machine starts then it would cancel that noise? We couldn’t continue the conversation anyway. So I guess I’m looking for a noise canceling headset that is “open ear” until the ambient noise level becomes excessive and then it protects my hearing. Not so much to listen to music. Although that is a nice feature!
Hmm! Seems you’re a bit more advanced in your knowledge! Well, the ANC will work even if music isn’t playing, and you won’t have any loose wires. It doesn’t have a setting to automatically turn off Transparent Hearing if you were interrupted, but you can set it that Transparent Hearing is only on when you hold your finger on the switch. That’s ok for brief conversations in a predominantly noisy environment. Etymotic has a product that is the inverse. Not particularly cheap, but effective. It is like a pair of earplugs with a hearing aid built-in, amplifying sounds a bit, but as soon as there is a sound above a certain decibel threshold, the microphones turn off and the sound is blocked (9-15 dB). Check this: https://www.etymotic.com/consumer/hearing-protection/mp915.html Personally, I find over ear headsets more comfortable, and I would see if I could use the PXC550 if I didn’t need to hold long conversations or I didn’t need it to automatically switch between clear “transparent hearing” and ANC modes based on the environment, but I own a pair of musicians earplugs for hearing safety (actually, now I own two pairs 😅).

EvshrugI agree that headphones would be more comfortable but those Etymotic you linked look perfect! The ad copy for them is exactly what I want to hear ;) Thanks!

No LDAC is a no for me...
hehahohiLDAC is nice at home, but too subtle to be heard on a commute or in an open office environment. I’m not saying you’re wrong for having a preference, I’m just saying it’s not as big a boost as we might hope if you haven’t compared the codecs yet. You certainly are right that codecs matter more than bluetooth revision!

Are the PXC550ii in Original Sennheiser packaging or modified packaging from DROP?

Like I said, doesn't look like it. Besides, even 6xx doesn't come in a plain cardboard, there's a Drop/Senn branded retail box. Obviously, the retail box does ship within a plain cardboard box, but that's just for shipping. In this case, it would be a regular Senn retail box within the Drop's shipping cardboard.

BobosoThis is vendor inventory, not direct from Sennheiser but probably legit.
