So I'm looking to buy my first DAC/Amp and I would need some advice. I read that on the T1 it's only the RCA output that goes through the tube? It might be good for my use case since I will mostly use it with my Monoprice studio monitors. I listen mostly to EDM / Wave, do not watch movies on my PC but I do game quite a bit on it. I do not have good headphones yet but I'm planning on getting the Sennheiser 6XX. Between this vs the Schiit stack, considering my use will be mostly through speakers, what are your recommendations? Thanks!

So if I plug in my monitors directly into the RCA output the volume knob will have no effect?

NephtysYes that's correct, the volume pot is in the preamp stage, line-out is fixed to 2Vrms. You can always use the software volume control before D/A but it won't be bit perfect.

The stock tube, Electro Harmonics are a good match for the Aune T1. Tube rolling works quite differently for the T1 because it's a tube buffer, not a tube amp. Some of my best tubes works absolute horribly with the T1. Gold Lion or Amperex 7308 are popular alternatives, but they didn't work for me, I found the stock tube the better all-round tube.

So I can safely say stay as far away from this product as humanly possible. At first it would start making quiet hissing noises after ten or twenty minutes of use. I tried to get in contact with support, but it takes days to get a single response back from them. The hissing and since become so unbearable that the amp is completely unusable. I now sit with a 180 dollar paperweight hoping the support messages me back any day now with some sort of fix. Overall for my first headphone amp/dac, this is an enormous disappointment and I have full regrets buying this product. Also I even bought another tube to make sure it wasn't the tube, and it totally was the Aune itself. It's been a huge letdown.

ReverseCometHi @ReverseComet, did you manage to get a reply from the support? I have the same issue with my unit, and I cannot return it as it's past the return period. Massdrop is not even helping by telling me if it is a bad unit or there is something I can do with it. The noise is coming from the right side only, but it's unbearable.

@rastus Is the T1 worth getting if I have no intention to upgrade anything besides the tube? I am currently leaning towards this unit, the iFi iTube2, LittleDot mkIII, or DV336SE. Do you have a preference? I want to start with a cheaper option to see how much I like it before plunking down some serious coin going down the rabbit hole.

Wow, I did not expect such a lengthy and detailed explanation of the tubes. Rest assured, that I have saved your comment( As in, actually saved it in a document ) for when I go out and buy a tube amplifier. I did however end up with a MayFlower ARC this time around. We'll see how it plays with my 4 sets of cans. Perhaps a small tube like this Aune T1 SE next month or the month after that if its around :-) Just so you know, get a taste of what the tubes actually sound like, before I really get invested, because so far, all I've heard is solid-states.

The aune plays well with both planars and dynamics. Using the aune with gain setting on 2 is plenty of power for my hd600, zmf atticus and lcd2f

I'm in both the Fostex T-X0 and the Sennheiser HD6xx drop, and have been researching for a amp/dac stack/combo to go with the headphones.
After many videos, reading articles, company websites and numerous comments, this video helped the most;

The reviewer stutters, but it doesn't bother me. Great information on the product and input on the AUNE T1, especially for the use of a possible full tube setup in the future.
I'm an average consumer who looks out for the most-value equipment. The Sasquatch had me sold on this one.

Just a simple question: only one tube and it’s a stereo unit, how can that be? are the two channels driven by one single tube? Is there a multiplexing device that feeds both channel to the tube? Wouldn’t be better to have one tube per channel ? Anyone?

PeteMtl6922/6DJ8 tubes are dual triode tubes, they have two signal paths so allowing for stereo with a single tube. This also means you'll want a tube that is well balanced, since you want both left and right channels to be as evenly matched as possible.

Massdrop77Excellent dac amp combo for high ohm 6 series and higher sennheisers. Also plays well with planars. the stock tube is excellent. I actually prefer it over the gold lion. Also the tube slightly colors the dac, not the amp ( which is ss ) You can use as dac only if you want to explore other amps down the road. no regrets, this was great starter amp/dac for me a couple years back. It has moved to bedroom but still gets use. Beautiful piece of equipment and performs well.

I have four Questions: (1) What is the difference between T1SE and MK2 ? (2) To which following categories does it belong to: (a) or (b) (a) The tube is at the end of the analog stage after the signal has passed through many solid-state chips. (b) Once the DAC chip converts the signal from digital to analog, the analog signal moves through connectors to the analog PCB, and then the signal is handled by vacuum tubes only without solid-state components (3) How do I know the model I am buying is the latest T1se ? I got the Mk2 on a previous drop. Flimsy switches and the line/USB was always flaky; it quit yesterday. When it worked, it was average in terms of quality and I used my Astell&Kern setup mainly. Huge difference both in quality and price. I have several spare tubes, including 2 of the Russians, looking for employment.
