Campfire Audio’s Vega IEM took the audiophile world by storm with its state-of-the-art components, synergistic design, and stunning audio. Now, the Vega design is back in the new and improved Vega 2020 Read More
BoobakerbrownIt's still dishonest IMO. Especially for people that don't cross-shop. They do it far too often for it to be a simple mistake. Either that or they really are inept. Neither answer isn't promising.
On paper this looks more similar than different from the Tin Hifi T5 that also employs a 10mm and revised DLC driver. The T5 sounds very good on all levels and not just for the price, so I hope at almost 5x the price the Vega offers something notably better other than a ceramic shell and maybe a better cable. Guess we’ll see, but I have my doubts.
No, but you can see from my review (sorry for errors I still need to fix BTW) why I think the T5s set a high bar at only 20% of the price of even the heavily-discounted Vega 2020. I hope to hear it soon to see what all that extra dough buys, and I’ll definitely follow up if/when I do.

I know what you mean. I have a few pricey IEMs and HPs and, as a rule, they do sound better than the cheaper ones. I have the BLON 03 (OPPOTY lol), and the Tin T3, haven't heard the T5. I have the Shinola Canfield by Campfire and it only cost $150, and it has a better sound than the Tin. I'm leery of all the buzzwords as well. I have the FOCAL Clear and it sounds better than anything else I have (click on the Dolphin). My best-sounding IEM is the QDC Anole V3-S, coming in at $585. Its all balanced armature but certainly not lacking in bass response.
It could be a coincidence that my best two sounding are the most costly, but in audio, I've found that if you pay extra you get what you pay for, with most companies. There are exceptions, for sure. Now I want to hear both, dang it ;-)
But I really doubt there's any contest. Those boutique companies specialize in separating one from the content of one's wallet.
According to Crinacle, the Vega 2020 lack resolution, they are bassy but with uncontrolled bass, which kinda defeats the purpose. I guess maybe for -300$ it could be somehow worth it.
SexPandaByOdeonI don't know....for $550 maybe not that bad, but I haven't tried it. I wouldn't get it, because it also has a 1.5K big peak, where instruments are harsh the most, plus a few treble peaks. For $180 more you get the beast ThieAudio Monarch. I freakin' love my Monarch.
jaxtraumathe Vega line is several years old, but they did a refresh starting in 2020, but the refreshes are pretty rare. Most of the CA lineup have only been refreshed once if at all. Calling it the 2020 is just noting this is a post-refresh model opposed to the pre-refresh model. Sometimes
the sound signature can change somewhat significantly, so some people may end up preferring the sound of the pre-refresh earphones and have to
make sure that’s what they’re buying. It’s not like car model years where the 2020 model is immediately replaced by a 2021 model with refreshes every year.

Thank you for your response. If only customer service people worked and represented themselves and their product as well as your thoughtful post does. If you don't work for Campfire, they ought to hire you, for sure.
PS: how do they sound? ;-)
Hmm... good point i thought we had a private msg feature here, must be a diff site.
Here are my thoughts...
Comfort wise these feel real good in the ear! With the housing material it stays cools so your ears aren't irritated with warm plastic (get this alot from IEM's personally).
Contents of package give you more ear tips then you will ever need, the zipper case I felt looked like it was a good concept but poorly executed in the quality control reminded me of a make up bag i got my wife off Wish.
Sound... I got these using the description of the sound sig as a fun out and about set so I wasn't going into this thinking they were going to be balanced at all but more of a higher end beats kind of sig (elevated bass). Extended bass it does deliver but holy smokes did it overpower the mids/highs. I'd try and describe the highs and mids but I'm not sure what they sound like since the bass was so forward over everything. Campfires a top notch company and have many great well known IEM's and treat their customers right. If you are looking for something to dump bass (marshvll is an artist that comes to mind) this may be your jam but for me just missed the mark for a high end IEM.
Again these are my opinions.
I like to avoid products that are just full of marketing buzzwords. "liquid metal alloy"? lol. All metal is liquid when you pour it into a mold. "diamond-like carbon driver" yet it says non-crystalline immediately after. So it's not at all diamond-like is it? Just regular old carbon-based or carbon impregnated that have been around for ages. "Silver-plated beryllium copper" Well that just means you will be lowering the conductive area by having the signal transfer through the much smaller but more conductive silver area, a problem magnified by the fact beryllium copper has lower conductivity than regular copper. And don't even bother getting started with "but the skin effect!!", that only affects a very few frequencies in the audio spectrum and requires a much thicker cable than what we have here, and removed as a consideration completely because this is a litz cable with a ton of very small conductors
Yep, CFA's marketing verbiage has become positively nauseating. That doesn't mean their IEMs are anything but top-shelf though. The Andromedas were easily the best sounding IEM I've owned. Too bad they didn't fit my ears well and I had to sell them.
mrvcoI hear you, I have the Clairvoyance with the same problem. That nozzle with the sharp edges is a terrible touch for fit. Even when it does barely fit, it doesn’t, cause that nozzle (at least in my case) still hurts.
Oh my!
Drivers: Amorphous Diamond-Like Carbon (ADLC) non-crystalline diamond-like carbon 8.2 mm dynamic driver with neodymium magnets
For...ONLY... $599 vs $1299!
Huh?!
Come on Drop, pandering to the uninformed and gullible with fancy shmancy verbiage.
SexPandaByOdeonThey are really good but certainly have a niche, not a great all-purpose IEM imho. Given the right album, they can really sound amazing, but even still, vocals can be a bit recessed.
