Anyone know what im doing wrong with it? I use the included usb cable and it lights up but i can't get any sound to my headset. Tried switching around on the amp and no results. Looked around in the windows menu and i can't even press to test buttons in settings.

I have hooked this up with my pc through USB. I mainly use this with my speakers. it works great, however as soon as I plug my headphones in, the output signed still goes out from the back and the speaker and headphones play at the same time, is this supposed to happen?

terrorificMe too. There is no select Speaker or Headphone. It plays at the same time.

I have a DV and would it be a good pair with this DAC? How to set this as DAC only ? Any recommendations?

I have a two part question.
- Can anyone please tell me if this DAC/Amp will work all right with the Sennheiser HD 6XX headphones?
- Plus, can it also be paired with studio monitors like the Eris E5 XT or JBL 305P MkII? will such pairing/combination give a balanced sound?

Ha ha, Thanks man! I know that it will work 'all right' but actually I was more interested in knowing if it would be a good pairing with headphones like the HD 6XX and powered/active speakers. But I get your point. The thing is, I am very new to using separate Dac/Amps in my system and I'm still learning.

Thanks a lot for the information man, much appreciated! I will try them with a pair of active speakers like the JBL 305P MkII once I get them (and after I buy the speakers of course, ha ha), But till then I will have to rely on info from helpful guys like you. Thanks again.

Could anyone please explain for a noob if this would work with HD 6XX, used with a PC conected by an optical cable, listening for CD (Deezer's HiFi) quality streams or ~similar quality FLACs stored locally? Would it be an improvement over PC's Realtec ALC1220 Codec (used via 3.5mm output (allegedly supporting up to 600ohms)?

Pls forgive a very basic question: would these drive something like these: https://tinyurl.com/yxqxndzo. Can't figure this out from looking at the specs. Yes, I see 8ohm isn't mentioned, but still ...
Other inexpensive passive speaker suggestions would be appreciated.
My old fireye II dac between my PC and the 4w rms speakers I have on my desk died after 11 years.
So I want to replace the DAC and thought I might upgrade just a bit on my $15.63 (2007) 4W RMS powered speakers, but get passive instead.

yirgsThis will ‘work’ with just about any headphone/speaker but won’t necessarily be advantageous. The speakers you’ve linked to are very efficient and do not need huge amounts of amplification to get the best out of them. 8ohm is a very common impedance of a speaker which tells you how much power it will draw from the amp and how much power is needed to drive them effectively.
The only time you really need to be carful is when driving speakers, 4-6ohm, which demand a higher load and therefore more high powered amp.
I would suggest if using these speakers for laptop/computer there would be some benefit in sound quality using this amp/dac.
If wanting to use them as primary tv or hifi set up they are limited. You’d be better off buying a cheap secondhand mid powered (60/80watt) receiver+passive bookshelf speaker or set of active (amp included) plug and play Edifiers.

Can someone knowledgeable tell me something about this dac/amp? can't find any reviews on it. Want to buy it for IEMs. In your experience does dac/amp make IEMs sound better?

Why would you suggest someone buy an adapter to plug rca cables onto a dac let alone a dac with no rca inputs??
edit*...you also make discouraging remarks re its’s power output, yet I’m pretty sure 85mW 32ohm would be sufficient for 99.9% of the iem population.

j4nd0tbh can't really say without hearing it, it's probably better than on board audio from laptops/older computers/phones, if you are using budget audio stuff probably a good match if you are using $100+ audio stuff I would personally recommend a FIIO E10K or the newer K3 over this
