A DCX Review: Good Keycaps for the Price, Even Better on a Deal
With many, many more people joining the keyboard hobby, vendors have been stepping up with the availability of keycaps. Most notably, the rise of alternatives to GMK. Not just cheap clones, but also more premium sets to attempt to match the quality of the German GMK. In this case, Drop's answer is DCX, their form of doubleshot ABS keycaps. There's a few things that I want to note that are different from other Cherry profile keycaps.
1: Packaging
While packaging doesn't affect the performance of the keycaps themselves, it definitely has an effect on how premium a product feels, especially in an unboxing experience. I'm happy to say that not only are the boxes clean and simple in jet black and few brandings, but also the keycaps themselves also come in nice plastic trays that enclose each keycaps securely. I've never been able to unbox a GMK set without seeing a mess of keycaps with their paper trays. While plastic isn't necessarily that great for the environment, I tend to keeps...
I have been very interested in buying a barebones keyboard for a while now. I honestly have no idea what I would need to buy to complete the keyboard though. Here is an example of what I have considered buying, https://drop.com/buy/momoka-zoo65-gasket-hot-swappable-mechanical-keyboard-kit?defaultSelectionIds=976323. What
would I need to make this a complete keyboard? Thank you for anyone that helps!
Dear Drop,
I've been the keycap club member for many many months.
Mostly because I'd like to support the cause, but with the lack of any colevrak friendly keycap sets it gets really frustrating.
I myself use Norman keyboard layout and find it extremely hard to find beautiful sets with either mono-profile or with colevrak extension kits. And even when there are extension kits they usually cover only the most boring variation of the keycap set.
Are the colevrak extension kits that expensive to make?
They will make a huge difference for some of us.
Thanks,
Vladimir
Suggestion: Drop should make a budget barebones kit.
Drop has marketshare in many areas, but they appear to not have any cheap barebones kits (sub 50$) currently available. They could do something like the CIY tester 68, MG75, or MG108 (ideally a 65%) . This could be a keyboard that would be a great entryway into mechanical keyboards, and have drop be recognized as a budget player more. It could also have deals that encourage you to buy other drop products alongside it (IE: keycaps 10$). It could also work as a 'travel keyboard' which one would bring travelling with them or just something fairly cheap to not be super careful with and just test out whatever.
Ladies and gentlemen, we have been waiting for a long time~
Half a year has passed since the project was approved! It is a great honor to introduce to you the Roselle Switch designed by HC Studio!
【R&D Philosophy】
The concept of this research and development of the switch is to produce a new material that has not yet been involved in keyboard switch field. After the idea emerged in November last year, we communicated with multiple OEM factories and ultimately chose BSUN/YOK Electronics for two reasons:
1. Bsun is an experience keyboard switch factory.
2. Bsun has its own unique insights and research on materials, and is willing to cooperate with us in trying new materials.
【Design inspiration】
The inspiration for the switch comes from the God of Luo in China, extracting the matching flower colors of the Roselle (Luo Shen flower);
Legend has it that the Luo Shen flower is transformed from the blood and tears of the Luo God, and is red and bright in color. The slightly narrow bud...
I live in Australia, I paid 20 USD for the delivery. 12 days have passed and it's still in the US? And I haven't had any updates for 3 days now
I thought DHL was the best of logistics service providers?
I know it's just a set of keycaps it's not urgent but isn't this a bit too slow though?

Hey everyone, first post here! I recently got a drop CTRL but I lost the magnetic feet. Do you know where I can get them? Or , if you've been in a similar situation, any DIY tips to angle&stabilize the keyboard?
Hi everyone, I'm ChenXian, a keycap designer from China, and this is my first post on Drop,it is a pleasure to talk to you all here. Now, I will present you with my work.
My inspiration is usually very simple: a flash of inspiration. It's hard for me to come up with great ideas on purpose, and the ones I do come up with are very raw, so the initial inspiration for the designs I come up with is a flash of brainstorming, and this one was amazing.
Does God really love the world?
John 3:16 reads, "God so loved the world that he gave his only begotten Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have everlasting life."
In fact the answers to questions such as these are often unknown, and these doubts often fade away as sleep sets in; after all, the next day one opens one's eyes and is faced with the same thing as always, the sun to rise as usual.
The sun, the moon, the dove, the key, the ladder, the feather, the love, what kind of picture can these elements build up in the...

i ordered the 60% MiTo SA Godspeed custom keycap set from this site. When it came I first Noticed that it was the wrong color set, and all the normal keycaps such as, shift, enter, esc, windows key, ECT were all missing from the set. I had to improvise by using other random useless keys. I put all the keycaps back and I'm requesting for a refund or a new set for the same price I got this one for.
How come there is almost no keyboards with a numpad (yes i know i just missed the one but that was a pretty bland keyboard) , I cannot live without one on the day to day, I don't get how there are so many people who chose not to have one. Can we get something else with a numpad on it?
Hey everyone!
There’s a lot going on in the Drop Keyboard Club that you might not be aware of if you’re not a member. I’d like to share some of the latest happenings here to give everyone an idea of what all is included in the membership, in addition to the items explicitly laid out on the Keyboard Club info page.
Also, regardless of your membership status, if you have any ideas for additional ways that we can bring value to the membership, please share those here! The club is by no means in a finalized state - we are always looking for ways to improve.

Monthly Coupon Lottery - Every month, DKC members roll a new monthly coupon valued between $20 and $100, which can be redeemed for a discount toward any keyboard-related product. This coupon discounts its full value when used on an order totaling $100 or more, or is scaled as a percentage discount on smaller orders ($20 coupon becomes 20% off an order below $100). Also do note that this discount is activated as a coupon...
So I just received a new massdrop ctrl from Amazon today and I’m having an issue with it. One of the LEDs in the case seems to display the wrong color. It will change colors, but it’s not the same as the others around it. Not sure what’s up with that. I used the massdrop keyboard configurator to flash a uniform color pattern and that didn’t correct the issue.
Any thoughts on this before I pack it up and send it back?
FWIW – This keyboard has the reset button on the back so I think that means it’s a first run board – old stock maybe?
I absolutely love the boxwhites – the spacebar sounds a little tinny, but the other keys are a joy to type on.
Any input you have would be greatly appreciated.
Hi all,
Its Christos from the Planfab team.
Since we are huge fans of old school sci-fi movies, we wanted to recreate something really iconic!!
The decision was not easy but we decided to recreate the 3 mutant breasts.... Here is a little reminder of this great scene: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=EiylTqSAiaM
You can find this Cherry Mx style keycap along with other keycaps here: https://www.etsy.com/shop/PLANFAB?ref=seller-platform-mcnav§ion_id=23214385
I hope you like it. Feedback and comments are welcome.
